Hello everyone! It's been a long time since I've written here. Honestly, I really like talking about movies, but when it comes to writing about them, it's really hard for me because of spoilers and stuff. I guess today I'll give myself the task of spoiling them a little bit, don't worry, I'm sure you won't miss anything.
This post wasn't planned, I had no theme, no desire to write today either. A moment ago I received a message from a friend saying good morning, the funny thing is that she added one of those super cheesy images of Winnie the Pooh, typical images that my aunts would use in their statuses to say good morning and start their day on the right foot. Thanks to that image I remembered that I had to finish what I started.
A few days ago I started watching Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey just out of curiosity, but I couldn't finish it, I left it almost in the middle to go do something important. The first half of the movie already seemed like complete crap to me, so I finished watching it and couldn't help but laugh out loud at how bad it was. Seriously, I think my family must have thought I was crazy.
Watching the trailer and then remembering how bad the movie was let me know that I was duped. At least the trailer hooks you in and leaves you with some anticipation and uncertainty. Unfortunately the trailer isn't as bad as the whole movie.
Many will know Winnie the bear, perhaps through the animated series or the novels, I think it's impossible for any of you to remember the legendary yellow bear who climbed trees just to get his honey. I don't remember much about the animated series, but its characters are unforgettable. As a kid I was always very entertained by the adventures of these characters, but there was something about the series that made me feel sad for some reason. As always, the dark and twisted side of things must come out, and that's when it does:
Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey
From the title you can already tell what it's about, Blood-Honey, Honey-Blood, you get my point. This is a horror movie, or at least I think it is. I think it could also be categorized as a "Comedy" if it wanted to.
The plot of the movie is simple. Basically the mythical and legendary Christopher Robin abandons his beloved fantastic friends. He used to bring them food and play with them for a while, but time passed and he never returned.
Winnie and his fantastic friends started to feel sad, plus they no longer had the food Chris used to provide them, and they slowly started to get very hungry in a rather unfavorable season: Winter. Everything gets intense when they decide to sacrifice the poor little donkey (Eeyore) and eat him in order to survive.
Why did they decide to eat the saddest and most depressive character of all? Whenever I remember the poor donkey, I get a certain feeling of nostalgia and sadness. I think I understand it at a certain point. Remember when his little house of sticks was always falling apart? Watching that was super sad.
Anyway, the point is that they killed the poor donkey in order to survive. This affected them severely, to the point that they became complete murderers. Throughout the movie we will be able to notice how Winnie mixes the blood of his victims with his honey, I'm sure you already saw it coming, "BLOOD AND HONEY" Wink wink.
The funny thing is that Chris, after abandoning his friends for years, decides to return with unbridled passion to the forest to visit them again, so much so that his girlfriend thinks he's crazy. I don't understand how you can leave your friends stranded for years and then come back thinking they'll be waiting for you with open arms, was my first thought.
Now we just have to add sexy teenagers going on vacation to a beautiful house that overlooks the 100 acre forest (where Winnie lives). It is obvious what will happen, you will notice a lot of clichés in this movie.
The setting and the place where everything happens is what I enjoyed most about the movie. I think the 100 acre forest dark and sinister version are decent in comparison to everything else, and that you can't really get to fully appreciate it. For some reason it reminded me a bit of the town in Resident Evil 4.
Actors' performance.
In this movie it seems like everything is being taken as a joke. The acting in general seems pretty silly and stupid to me. There are some tense moments where certain characters should be totally terrified, but you can clearly notice how they are laughing and not focused on what is really going on, everything seems like a parody, honestly.
There are situations where anyone would run for cover, run away, but this is a movie, obviously it's not going to happen. In this case, there are many scenes where the characters, instead of running and escaping from danger, decide to go towards it. Personally, I felt like they were children playing hide and seek and wanted to be found. Also, while they were trying to "hide", they were mumbling and talking in a very loud tone of voice, anyone could hear them on the other side of the forest.
Winnie and Piglet's performance was impeccable, they were just going for the kill. In reality you could hardly appreciate anything about these characters, just how hideous and ugly their masks were. I couldn't help but think that these masks would be perfect in the Hotline Miami video games. This was the part that disappointed me the most, I was expecting to see something more sinister and real from these characters, but there wasn't enough budget in play for CGI, so they had to improvise with horrible masks.
If that wasn't enough, Winnie has the power to control the bees as if she had super powers. The bees were supposed to be his main enemies, he seems to have mastered the forbidden jutsu. He is also an excellent martial artist. In one part he manages to remove a man's hand with the palm of his hand, the cut was almost perfect.
I would like to shout at you: "DO NOT SEE THIS MOVIE", but I am not the one to tell you what to do. I can only NOT recommend it if you are a fan of horror movies. The only thing it did deliver on, is the gory content full of slashes and other things worthy of a Slasher movie.
Even though I thought it was a bad movie in every way, I've seen that some people liked it. In part I understand them since I have several movies that could be categorized as "bad movies", but that I really like. In the end it's all subjective, so maybe you could love this movie.
Nevertheless, the film was a success
It doesn't matter that the movie was not perfect, it doesn't matter that the idea was not perfectly implemented, nobody cares that I didn't like it, this movie generated much more money than was used to make it. According to the internet, the initial budget was less than 100 thousand dollars and it grossed almost 5 million dollars, unbelievable. Not all that glitters is gold, and what doesn't glitter could be gold.
Let this serve as an example for when you want to do something and you feel that there is already someone who does it better than you because they have more tools at hand. Sometimes you can do great things with little things. So despite me saying the movie is bad, I don't have $5 million. 😅

"El éxito de una película de terror no depende del miedo que infunde en el espectador, sino del miedo que infunde en el productor al ver los números de taquilla."
¡Hola a todos! Hace mucho tiempo que no escribo por acá. Honestamente hablar de películas me gusta mucho, pero a la hora de escribir acerca de ellas se me complica un montón por el tema de los Spoilers y demás. Supongo que hoy me daré la tarea de Spoilearlos un poco, no se preocupen, estoy seguro de que no se pierden de nada.
Este post no estaba planeado, no tenía ningún tema, tampoco ganas para escribir hoy. Hace un momento recibí el mensaje de una amiga dándome los buenos días, lo gracioso es que añadió una de esas imágenes super cursis de Winnie the Pooh, típicas imágenes que mis tías utilizarían en sus estados para dar los buenos días y empezar su día con buen pie. Gracias a esa imagen recordé que debía de terminar lo que empecé.
Hace unos días empecé a ver Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey solo por curiosidad, pero no pude terminarla, la dejé casi por la mitad para ir a hacer algo importante. La primera Mitad de la película ya me parecía una completa basura, pues terminé de verla y no pude evitar reírme a carcajadas de lo mala que fue. En serio, creo que mi familia debió de pensar que estaba loco.
Ver el trailer y luego recordar lo mala que fue la película me hacen saber que fui engañado. Al menos el trailer te engancha y te deja cierta expectativa e incertidumbre. Lamentablemente el trailer no es tan malo como la película entera.
Muchos conocerán al oso Winnie, tal vez por medio de la serie animada o las novelas, creo que es imposible que ninguno de ustedes recuerde al legendario osito amarillo que escalaba árboles solo para conseguir su miel. Yo no recuerdo mucho acerca de la serie animada, pero sus personajes son inolvidables. Cuando era niño siempre me entretenían mucho las aventuras de estos personajes, pero había algo de la serie que me hacía sentir triste por alguna razón. Como siempre, el lado oscuro y retorcido de las cosas debe de salir a relucir, y es cuando aparece:

Con el título ya puedes saber de que va, Blood-Honey, Honey-Blood, ya me entiendes. Esta es una película de terror, o al menos eso creo. Creo que también podría catalogarse como "Comedia" si quisiera.
La trama de la película es sencilla. Básicamente el mítico y legendario Christopher Robin abandona a sus queridos amigos fantásticos. Él solía llevarles comida y jugar con ellos un rato, pero el tiempo pasó y nunca regresó.
Winnie y sus amigos fantásticos se empezaron a sentir tristes, además de que ya no tenían la comida que Chris les proporcionaba, y lentamente empezaron a tener mucha hambre en una temporada bastante desfavorable: Invierno. Todo se pone intenso cuando deciden sacrificar al pobre burrito(Eeyore) y comérselo para poder sobrevivir.
¿Por qué decidieron comerse al personaje más triste y depresivo de todos? Siempre que recuerdo al pobre burrito, me entra cierto sentimiento de nostalgia y tristeza. Creo que en cierto punto lo entiendo. ¿Recuerdan cuando su pequeña casa de palos siempre se venía abajo? Ver eso era super triste.
En fin, el punto es que mataron al pobre burro para poder sobrevivir. Esto los afectó gravemente, hasta el punto de que se convirtieron en completos asesinos. A lo largo de la película podremos notar como Winnie mezcla la sangre de sus victimas con su miel, estoy seguro de que ya lo veías venir, "BLOOD AND HONEY" Wink wink.
Lo curioso es que Chris, después de abandonar a sus amigos durante años, decide volver con una pasión desenfrenada al bosque para visitarlos nuevamente, tanto así que su novia lo cree loco. No entiendo como puedes dejar a tus amigos tirados por años y luego volver pensando que te van a estar esperando con los brazos abiertos, fue lo primero que pensé.
Ahora solo debemos de añadir a adolescentes sexys que se van de vacaciones a una casa preciosa que da con el bosque de los 100 acres(lugar en donde vive Winnie). Es evidente lo que sucederá, notarán muchos clichés en esta película.
La ambientación y el lugar en donde ocurre todo es lo que más disfruté de la película. Creo que el bosque de los 100 acres versión oscura y siniestra están decentes en comparación a todo lo demás, y eso que no puede llegar a apreciarse totalmente. Por alguna razón me hizo recordar un poco al pueblo de Resident Evil 4.
Actuación de los personajes
En esta película parece que todo se lo estuviesen tomando en broma. La actuación en general me parece bastante tonta y estúpida. Hay algunos momentos de tensión en donde ciertos personajes deberían de estar totalmente aterrorizados, pero puedes notar claramente como se están riendo y no están enfocados en lo que realmente sucede, todo parece una parodia, honestamente.
Hay situaciones en las que cualquiera correría a esconderse, huiría, pero esto es una película, obviamente no sucederá. En este caso, hay muchas escenas en las que los personajes, en vez de correr y escapar del peligro, deciden ir hacia él. Personalmente, sentí como si fuesen niños jugando a las escondidas y quisieran que se les encontrase. Además, mientras trataban de "esconderse", murmuraban y hablaban en un tono de voz muy alto, cualquier persona podría oírlos al otro lado del bosque.
La actuación de Winnie y de Piglet fueron impecables, solo se dedicaban a matar. En realidad casi no se podía apreciar nada de estos personajes, solo lo horrendas y feas que eran sus máscaras. No pude evitar pensar en que estas máscaras serían perfectas en el video juego Hotline Miami. Esta fue la parte que más me decepcionó, esperaba ver algo más siniestro y real por parte de estos personajes, pero no hubo suficiente presupuesto en juego para el CGI, así que tuvieron que improvisar con máscaras horribles.
Por si no era suficiente, Winnie tiene el poder de controlar las abejas como si tuviese super poderes. Se supone que las abejas eran sus enemigos principales, parece que dominó el jutsu prohibido. También es un excelente artista marcial. En una parte logra quitarle la mano a un hombre con la palma de su mano, el corte fue casi perfecto.
Quisiera gritarte: "NO VEAS ESTA PELÍCULA", pero no soy nadie para decirte que hacer. Solo puedo NO recomendártela si eres fan de las películas de terror. Lo único en lo que si cumplió, es en el contenido sangriento lleno de cuchilladas y otras cosas dignas de una película Slasher.
Más allá de que a mi me haya parecido una película mala en todos los sentidos, he visto que a algunas personas si les gustó. En parte los entiendo ya que tengo varias películas que se podrían catalogar como "malas películas", pero que a mi me gustan mucho. Al final todo es subjetivo, así que tal vez esta película podría encantarte.
A pesar de todo la película fue un éxito
No importa que la película no fuese perfecta, tampoco importa que la idea no haya sido implementada perfectamente, a nadie le importa que no me haya gustado, esta película generó mucho más dinero del que se utilizó para hacerla. Según internet, el presupuesto inicial fue menos de 100 mil dólares y recaudó casi 5 millones de dólares, increíble. No todo lo que brilla es oro, y lo que no brilla podría ser oro.
Que esto te sirva de ejemplo para cuando quieras hacer algo y sientas que ya existe alguien que lo hace mejor que tú por tener más herramientas a la mano. A veces puedes hacer grandes cosas con pequeñas cosas. Así que a pesar de que yo diga que la película es mala, yo no tengo 5 millones de dólares. 😅
