Last week while browsing the interwebs I stumbled upon a short clip of this very unique film. I don't know how I kept watching this short film of this tenacious chase between a small car and a big scary looking truck, but somehow or another it got me hooked and I wanted to keep watching more.
I started searching through the comments on the post until I got the name of the much sought after movie called: Duel. A movie with a simple main theme, which is a car chase, but at the same time a complicated drama full of suspense, as the protagonist fights for his life, in an overwhelming chase.
It is inevitable to feel that sense of persecution and suspense during the film, as director Steven Spielberg used filming techniques that made the audience feel inside the movie and experience the panic, confusion and expectation that the main character felt, being in such a dreaded situation.
It is a cult classic of American cinema, which I do not know why I had not heard before hehehe which has a very quiet start to something boring but then gives a very unexpected twist which leaves you glued to the screen until the end of the film.
Without further ado, I'll tell you a little about this little gem of television, so let's begin.
La semana pasada viendo las redes me tope con un pequeรฑo fragmento de esta muy singular pelรญcula. No se cรณmo me quede observando ese corto de esta tenaz persecuciรณn entre un pequeรฑo automรณvil y un gran camiรณn con aspecto atemorizante, pero de alguna u otra forma me dejo enganchada y quise seguir viendo mรกs.
Empecรฉ a buscar entre los comentarios de la publicaciรณn hasta que conseguรญ el nombre de la tan buscada pelรญcula la cual se llama : Duel . Una pelรญcula con un simple tema principal, el cual es una persecuciรณn automovilรญstica, pero a la vez un complicado drama lleno de suspenso, ya que el protagonista lucha por su vida, en una agobiante persecuciรณn.
Es inevitable sentir esa sensaciรณn de persecuciรณn y suspenso durante la pelรญcula, ya que el director Steven Spielberg uso tรฉcnica de filmaciรณn, que hicieron sentir al pรบblico dentro de la pelรญcula y poder experimentar el pรกnico, confusiรณn y de expectativa que sintiรณ el personaje principal , al estar en tal temida situaciรณn.
Es un clรกsico de culto del cine norteamericano, el cual no sรฉ porque no habรญa escuchado antes jejeje el cual tiene un comienzo muy tranquilo hasta algo aburrido pero despuรฉs da un giro muy inesperado el cual te deja pegado a la pantalla hasta el final de la pelรญcula.

It begins with David Mann, a businessman who like any other day begins a trip through the desert roads of California, in order to get to a business meeting. The trip begins very well indeed, the protagonist is driving peacefully in his Plymouth Valiant car when suddenly he meets a Peterbilt 281 tanker truck.
Everything seems to be normal, since it is a simple truck that is going slowly along the road, but the protagonist needs to get to a meeting that is waiting for him quickly, and to be able to get home in time to be with his wife who is waiting for him. So he decides to overtake the truck in front of him, and when he succeeds the truck driver gets annoyed and overtakes him again. The truck driver starts a strange macabre game and David does not understand what is going on, as he is simply trying to get to his meeting early.
Comienza con David Mann un hombre de negocio que como cualquier otro dรญa comienza un viaje por las carreteras desรฉrticas de California, con el fin de llegar a una reuniรณn de negocios. El viaje inicia muy bien realmente, el protagonista va manejando apaciblemente en su automรณvil Plymouth Valiant cuando de repente se encuentra con un camiรณn cisterna Peterbilt 281.
Todo aparenta ser normal, ya que es un simple camiรณn que va lento por el camino, pero el protagonista necesita llegar rรกpido a una reuniรณn que lo esperan, y poder llegar a tiempo a su hogar y estar junto a su esposa que lo espera. Asรญ que decide adelantar el camiรณn que estaba delante de รฉl, y cuando lo logra el camionero se molesta y lo vuelve adelantar . El camionero comienza con un extraรฑo juego macabro y David no entiende lo que pasa , ya que el simplemente intenta llegar temprano a su reuniรณn.
But suddenly the truck seemed to understand that he just needed to get away and signaled him to pass, so David was relieved for a moment and prepared to pass. But what he didn't know was the surprise that awaited him, since the truck driver gave him the pass with a very bad intention, and that was to collide with a car that was coming in the lane, and David had not been able to see it.
David almost hit the oncoming car and got the scare of his life. So he understood that the driver of that truck was not playing, and that his life was in danger so he decided to get as far away from him as possible. But for some strange reason the truck driver became obsessed with this macabre game and decided to take revenge on David for passing him and kept chasing him.
Pero de repente el camiรณn pareciera entender que el solo necesita irse y le hace seรฑas para que lo rebase. asรญ que David siente alivio por un momento y se prepara para adelantarlo. Pero lo que รฉl no sabรญa era la sorpresa que le esperaba, ya que el chofer del camiรณn le dio el pase con una muy mala intenciรณn, y era que chocara con un automรณvil que venรญa en vรญa, y David no lo habรญa podido visualizar .
David casi choca con el auto en vรญa y le dio el susto de su vida. Asรญ que entendiรณ que el chofer de ese camiรณn no jugaba , y que su vida estaba en peligro asรญ que decidiรณ alejarse lo mรกs posible de รฉl. Pero por alguna extraรฑa razรณn el camionero se obsesiono con este macabro juego y decidiรณ vengarse de David por haberlo rebasado y siguiรณ persiguiรฉndolo.
So friends begins this frightening chase through this terrifying tanker truck, in which David did not know how to get out and feared for his life. A terrifying chase that will leave you glued, only to find out what will become of David Mann's fate.

Curiously, Steven Spielberg's feature film debut, being a made-for-television film, was so successful in its 1971 broadcast that it was made into a movie shortly thereafter. The original film was only 74 minutes long and the film adaptation was 90 minutes long. This film was a great start and boost to his career as a director.
It certainly caught the attention of the public, as it has certain unusual elements to be a film of suspense, mystery and a little terror, but in broad daylight without any darkness, spectrum or any weapon, but a frightening chase that had a Peterbilt 281 tanker truck to a small Plymouth Valiant car.

La pelรญcula original duro solo 74 minutos y la adaptaciรณn al cine duro 90 minutos. Esta pelรญcula fue un gran comienzo e impulso de su carrera como director
Ciertamente llamo a mucho la atenciรณn del pรบblico , ya que tiene ciertos elementos inusuales al ser un film de suspenso , misterio y un poco te terror , pero en plena luz del dia sin nada de oscuridad, espectro o alguna arma , sino una atemorizante persecuciรณn que tenรญa un camiรณn cisterna Peterbilt 281 a un pequeรฑo auto Plymouth Valiant.
For me it is a masterpiece of Spielberg , as he made a lot having so few resources and technology at the time , only a lot of creativity and talent when directing . It was based on the novel by Richard Matheson, with the same name of the film. The writer also made the adaptation of the novel to the script of this film.
Also interesting is that no extensive dialogue was needed to tell the story, but the excellent adaptation of the script and the extraordinary performance of Dennis Weaver as David Mann gave life to this intriguing story, which is more of a visual experience than a spoken one.
Para mi es una obra maestra de Spielberg , ya que hizo una mucho teniendo tan poco recursos y tecnologรญa en ese momento , solo mucha creatividad y talento a la hora de dirigir . Se baso en la novela de Richard Matheson, con el mismo nombre de la pelรญcula . El escritor realizo tambiรฉn la adaptaciรณn de la novela al guion de este film.
Algo tambiรฉn interesante es que no se necesito de un extenso dialogo para contar la historia , sino que la excelente adaptaciรณn del guion y la extraordinaria actuaciรณn del protagonista Dennis Weaver como David Mann dio vida a esta intrigante historia , que es mรกs una experiencia visual que hablada.

I can assure you that even if you are not a lover of car chases and that sort of thing hehe this is a movie has more than simple action , but its ability to generate suspense and psychological tension through a simple theme , will make you simply love it.
So if I had to rate this movie from 1 to 10 I would give it a 9 , as it is a super classic that tells a story without many words , but masterfully enlivens the moment when a man fights for his life and immerses the viewer in that terror and expectation of that moment.
The only thing that takes away a perfect 10 from the film was the ending, which left a little doubt about the crazy truck driver and what really motivated him to such a macabre duel to the death, without any apparent compelling reason. Although the original story is like that hehe, I was left wanting to know a little more.
So if you're looking for some action, suspense and horror, this is a great out of the ordinary classic that you'll love to watch.
Les puedo asegurar que aunque no seas amante de las persecuciones automovilรญsticas y ese tipo de cosas jeje esta es una pelรญcula tiene mรกs que simple acciรณn , sino que su capacidad de generar suspenso y tensiรณn psicolรณgica a travรฉs de un tema simple , harรก que simplemente te encante.
Asรญ que si tuviera que clasificar esta pelรญcula del 1 al 10 le darรญa un 9 , ya que es un super clรกsico que cuenta una historia sin muchas palabra , pero de manera magistral vivifica el momento en que un hombre lucha por su vida y sumerge al espectador en ese terror y expectativa de ese momento.
Lo รบnico que le quita un perfecto 10 a la pelรญcula fue su final , que dejo un poco de dudas , sobre el loco camionero y que lo realmente lo motivo a tan macabro duelo a muerte , sin ninguna razรณn de peso aparente. Aunque la historia original es asรญ jeje, yo me quede con ganas de saber un poco mรกs.
Asรญ que si estas buscando ver algo de acciรณn , suspenso y terror , este es un gran clรกsico fuera de lo comรบn que te encantara ver .
