With just one more paper remain for me tomorrow, I took the risk and liberty of starting my post exams movie time now.
In my defense, it's a movie I've long lusted for and have shown a large act of self control in avoiding it till now.
Atlantis The Lost Empire
Plot
Milo Tatch has always wanted to go on the grand adventure and uncover the treasure that his grandfather dreamt about: The Lost City of Atlantis.
On his final and most desperate try, he manages to come across his grandfather's old friend, and with his resources they find the lost city, but without Milo's help, it's going to get missing once again.
Now I know when I said "it's a movie I've long lusted for.." most people would think and may had tried to guess what new movie he had left his books for.
In actuality, this film is an old one that came out in 2001. It's also the first version of the City of Atlantis that I've heard and personally the best I've seen.
Tales and legends of the past like the Lost City of Atlantis, The City of El Dorado, The Fall of Pompeii have been the inspirations for many wonderful literary and cinematic works.
Yet, like I said earlier this year, I'd center my search on past cartoon's amd movies, to find a way to preserve them fornthe coming generation.
Just recently I showed Rio to my nieces and they've fallen in love with the movie... Played it three times everyday for 3 days till their mother had to delete it.
Now they're making everyone turn deaf with their rendition of the show's songs 😂😂😂
This show by Disney like I said was one of the lost funny movies I remember.
It didn't do quite well monetarily for Disney due to the rage at that time going towards the new Disney Princesses coming out, but I fell in love with it.
What I Liked
If you asked me this question then and now, the numbers of things I loved about this show would only increase and be in more detail.
The movie was awesomeness in its entirety and everything started from the great
- Plot.
The plot of the show was awesome. I've always been in love with myths and legends since when I was a child, and for me back then this was the first I was introduced to the legend of Atlantis.
The idea of brave explorers going to look for a city underwater was quite wonderful, a lovely plot to spark the adventurous imagination of young children and seki😂.
- World Building
I think Disney absolutely outdid themselves with this. We get to see an entirely new world here.
The pictures and buildings and vehicles, everything was so different and futuristic and straight up awesome.
Atlantis was a different world, apparently hundreds of years ahead of the earth and indeed it looked that way.
- Animation.
The animation was splendidly done too.
At this point it's not a joke nor a shade but an honest plea that whatever Disney was doing before, they should go back and relearn it😭
It's just unbelievable how 23 years later and this show still looks as good as this, still sounds as good as this. It aged like fine wine 😭.
- Characters
One thing I loved about this movie was the uniqueness of the characters.
Like they were all so detailed and different, from Sweet down to Mole. Everybody had their moments and with all that was going on, we got to know a little bit about them.
Of course the main focus was on the protagonist, Milo, but all character's were in view and all were loved.
The antagonists in the other hand were some what shunned. It was almost intentional 😂😂
General Overview
It was a lovely even after I just watched it 13 years later, my sense of awe and wonder are as strong as ever.
It just goes to show that there are loads of old gems out there that have been forgotten, somewhat like the lost city of Atlantis.
We just have to find them and keep them safe.
I give this show an 8 out of 10.
