Cacería en Venecia es la última (por los momentos) adaptación cinematográfica de las obras de la aclamada escritora de novelas del genero policial/crimen, Agatha Christie. Ambientada en los pintorescos canales y callejones de Venecia, esta película captura la esencia del suspense, intriga y astucia característica de la escritora. Yo, como lectora de sus libros y persona que ha visto las adaptaciones anteriores, no podía perderme esta.
Basada en "Hallowe'en Party", pero con varios cambios, la historia se desarrolla en Venecia, donde se celebra una fiesta de Halloween en un gran Palazzo perteneciente a la señora Rowena Drake, una ex cantante de ópera. Al culminar la fiesta, se tiene planeado hacer una sesión de espiritismo con la ayuda de la médium Joyce Reynolds para invocar al fantasma de la difunta hija de Rowena, Alicia Drake, pero todo toma un giro más tenebroso cuando inesperados asesinatos empiezan a ocurrir. Todos los presentes, junto con Hercule Poirot, el legendario detective belga creado por Christie, terminan involucrándose en la investigación del crimen.
La trama no tardó en complicarse poco tiempo de iniciar la película, pistas falsas y giros inesperados no dejaron de presentarse, mientras Poirot analiza los testimonios y comportamientos de los sospechosos, todos los cuales parecen tener motivos ocultos y pasados misteriosos. La historia se centra no solo en descubrir al asesino, sino también en dejar en evidencia las complejidades psicológicas y emocionales de los personajes.
Visualmente, los detalles arquitectónicos venecianos y el vestuario de época transportan al espectador a aquellos tiempos, todo es bastante antique, vintage, lúgubre y misterioso. Las escenas en los canales de Venecia, filmadas con maestría, añaden un toque de romanticismo y peligro que subraya la atmósfera de suspense. Destaco también las actuaciones, el elenco logra capturar la diversidad de motivaciones y secretos de cada uno de sus personajes y, el actor Kennet Branagh realizo su papel de Poirot como siempre de una manera encantadora (ya es su tercera vez interpretándolo).
Esta es de esas películas en las que hay que prestar atención a los detalles y los diálogos afilados, porque hay muchos. Siento que usualmente muchas personas se quejan de las películas con mucho diálogo, pero a mí me encantan. Este tipo de filmes en particular me parecen encantadores porque siento que tienen una estética especifica que se diferencia y una buena cantidad de misterio, aunque, personalmente, al yo crecer leyendo diversos tipos de libros y viendo muchas películas de crimen, ya tengo desarrollada esa capacidad de llegar a conclusiones rápidas, usualmente siempre me doy cuenta como es todo antes de que se revele.

Cacería en Venecia es una buena adaptación, un poco distinta, pero hace el trabajo para los fans de Agatha Christie como de aquellos que disfrutan de un buen misterio. Con su ingeniosa trama y su ambientación impecable, esta película es un recordatorio de porque las historias de crimen siguen siendo tan apreciadas, yo la recomiendo, pueden encontrarla en Disney +, el servicio de streaming.

A Haunnting in Venice is the latest (so far) film adaptation of the works of the acclaimed detective/crime writer Agatha Christie. Set in the picturesque canals and alleys of Venice, this film captures the essence of the writer's trademark suspense, intrigue and cleverness. I, as a reader of her books and a person who has seen the previous adaptations, could not miss this one.
Based on "Hallowe'en Party", but with several changes, the story takes place in Venice, where a Halloween party is held in a grand Palazzo that belongs to Mrs. Rowena Drake, a former opera singer. At the end of the party, a seance is planned with the help of medium Joyce Reynolds to summon the ghost of Rowena's deceased daughter, Alicia Drake, but everything takes a darker turn when unexpected murders begin to occur. Everyone present, along with Hercule Poirot, the legendary Belgian detective created by Christie, end up getting involved in the investigation of the crime.
The plot soon became complicated, false clues and unexpected twists and turns kept coming up as Poirot analyzed the testimonies and behaviors of the suspects, all of whom seem to have ulterior motives and mysterious pasts. The story focuses not only on uncovering the killer, but also on exposing the psychological and emotional complexities of the characters.
Visually, the Venetian architectural details and period outfits transport the viewer to those times, everything is pretty antique, vintage, gloomy and mysterious. The scenes on the canals of Venice, skillfully filmed, add a touch of romanticism and danger that underlines the suspenseful atmosphere. I also highlight the performances, the cast manages to capture the diversity of motivations and secrets of each of their characters and, the actor Kennet Branagh performed his role of Poirot as always in a charming way (it is already his third time playing him).
This is one of those movies where you have to pay attention to details and sharp dialogues, because there are a lot of them. I feel like usually a lot of people complain about movies with a lot of dialogue, but I love them. I find these types of films in particular charming because I feel like they have a specific aesthetic that sets them apart and a good amount of mystery, although, personally, me growing up reading various types of books and watching a lot of crime movies, I already have that developed ability to jump to quick conclusions, I usually always figure out how everything is before it's revealed.
A Haunting in Venice is a good adaptation, a little different, but it does the job for fans of Agatha Christie as well as those who enjoy a good mystery. With its clever plot and impeccable setting, this movie is a reminder of why crime stories are still so beloved, I highly recommend it, you can find it on Disney +, the streaming service.
