How Do You Explain Crypto to a NoCoiner?

in #hive-1679222 years ago

Bitcoin is currently changing hands for $28k per coin, and believe it or not, but there are still plenty of crypto heads out there who still think we're in a bear market. Good luck with that narrative, guys...

I'll be waiting for such individuals, once their appetite for investing in crypto is ignited once again(usually near the peak), so I can dump on them.

Bitcoin is a "young heart with a long history". I know that such a statement might sound a bit odd, but considering the times it was declared dead already and how much "it has endured" over time, this thing looks old to me, but immortal nevertheless.

Crypto is not just about Bitcoin and not all cryptocurrencies deserve to be part of this ecosystem... Some are pure garbage that shouldn't even exist, and oftentimes it's because of such projects/coins that the crypto space got so tainted in the eyes of the media and many individuals worldwide.

You know the saying: each and one of us is buying Bitcoin at the time and price he/she deserves.

Being a person who lives off of crypto I am often times faced with the typical question of what crypto is, coming from individuals who never had the opportunity to own cryptocurrencies or use a blockchain, and that's when all the fun begins. I could talk for hours about crypto because I see many use cases for blockchain technology and cryptocurrency.

Hence whenever I get the chance to do it(explain crypto to nocoiners) I never hesitate and believe me that I try to do that in the most comprehendible way. I really want to see everyone in crypto and I want to be able to use it everywhere... I wanna see grannies selling cabbage for sats and hookers offering sexual services in exchange for HBD ;).

Hence the first pro argument for crypto that I mention during such talks is that crypto is somehow the tokenization of the internet. It's projects like Hive making it possible for individuals like you and me to monetize our content online instead of sharing it for free on Facebook, it's the airdrops that we could get for getting involved in DAOs like UMA and everything that comes in between.

The era of WEB2 is not yet dead, but its life span is close to ending... Sooner than later we will have much more ways and means of tokenizing even our most mundane activities and this is something I have thought about since my early days in crypto.

“Sound money,” defined as money that has a purchasing power determined by markets, independent of governments and political parties is how I would describe Bitcoin and some of the altcoins that are backed by real working projects, Hive being one of these. Neither has a CEO or can be subject to regulations in any way.

Bitcoin is the ultimate digital sovereignty(so far) and Hive is redefining social media in the era of the new internet. Both are free of government control and regulations and their value is given by their users, investors, and sometimes speculators as well.

Being in crypto is an act of resistance, that's for sure. For someone like me who's totally against the system, the debt slavery that has gradually conquered the modern man, and the control exercised by the powers in charge through the current legislative and monetary systems, crypto is indeed a lifeboat... Hence...

Owning crypto puts you in the position of fuck you... But details on this last one will probably come in a future post. I already made this one too long for anyone to read it entirely. So, have a great day and see you next time.

Thanks for your attention,
Adrian

Truly understanding Bitcoin and crypto requires knowledge in several different areas - distributed systems, cryptography, monetary theory, etc. So if I ever run into a NoCoiner who genuinely wants to learn, I have them download a wallet from the app store and send them a little bit of crypto, just so they can see how easy it is to send it. Then they get excited by seeing the price fluctuations every day from within the app. Friends who had no interest in crypto years ago are much more interested now, and I feel eventually everybody comes around.

The thing with the wallet is how it caught me too. That's exactly what a friend of mine did to me over five years ago.
