The sun is always there / Die Sonne ist immer da

Hello,

As I wrote a few days ago, I have learnt a lot in 2024 and some thoughts have become clearer. One thing I always remember when there are many challenges, the sun always shines above the clouds. The picture was on the penultimate flight in December, when the snow-covered Alps rose above the cloud cover and the sun set on the horizon. It was a very warm feeling.

Life is short, very short, and our time on this earth is limited. It is up to us to make the most of this time. I see my parents getting older and my child growing up. Sometimes I feel like we don't realise how time flies and get upset about things we can't change.

There's always something that doesn't work properly and gives you a headache. There is usually a solution, and if not, you should make the best of it. The sun is always there, whether we see it or not. If the sun wasn't there, we wouldn't be there either.

Last year I had a serious accident, but luckily everything went well. The first few minutes until the ambulance arrived, when I could no longer move but was completely sober, were the worst. I thought, what if I can't move, what will my wife, my child and my parents do? After 2 months I was completely cured, but that panic was bad. In both cases I couldn't do anything anyway, so the panic didn't help. What I'm trying to say is that what we can do, we should do with heart and what we can't influence, just ignore as long as we can.

I now focus on the essential things in life, family, health and environment, be it social to the projects I am involved in. Everything else, like politics, arguing with idiots on the internet, is pointless. Anyway, you can't change opinions and you usually don't make any friends.

How do you see it?

Hallo,

Oh my God! Didn't know about your accident! That definitely can change your perspective on life and what is important for you and your family.

Here I wrote just a small hint about it. Photo was at 10:15 PM in the ER. https://inleo.io/@alexvan/rescue-services-in-germany

You were lucky not to have a serious injury, from what I read in your post. Sometimes we need a shock to make the right choices.

Yes, it was not a serious, but I was monitored for 2 months, due to kidney potential damage, and was lying in bed for 16 days. Had some way worse in my youth. Not been able to move at first was worse than the pain felt after.

Not been able to move at first was worse than the pain felt after.

I imagine that was quite a panic when you saw you couldn't move. Hard moments to go through.

For the moment, it was a big shock, but after hearing that everything will be fine, I changed the perspective on life. It was almost one year ago, and now there is no side issue from back then.

Beautiful reflection! Life is indeed short, and it's up to us to make the most of it. Your story is a powerful reminder to focus on what truly matters.

For me, family matters. How about you?

This is so moving. I'm really sorry to hear about your accident, my friend. This is a beautiful takeaway, though. It's a shame that sometimes, terrible things are needed to shake us awake, but at least you're awake, no? I've been thinking a lot about how it's very short, too, this life. Though I think if you try to aim each moment towards what's right (what feels right in regard to the you you aim to be), then it might just be enough.
I try sometimes to say to myself "this is my time, and this is what I'm doing with it". It's sobering, especially if you're not doing something worthwhile/wasting time.

I'm really glad you're well now :)

Thank you. It is ok now and was somehow lucky to be in Germany, where the medical system still works better than in other countries. Such events give a different perspective to life, and most show us the real value behind it.

I stopped watching TV and only sometimes, if we have a get-together with friends, will watch a movie, for example. Hope you are having a great time and make the most of it.

I totally agree with you in the theme. Life is in fact to short, and besides that, we can have a fatality that can transforms our lives in a dramatic way. You have seen it from the first row view... It must be so scary to pass all those days with so many doubts about your future reality.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and reflections about life with us.
Always trust in the sun shinning above the clouds... always!

Well, life happens, and we are all doomed to die one day, the important thing it is that it is not today. Some smart people in the past have seen this and wrote entire books about the idea.
