I have been marinating in excitement since I procured my tufting gun and I am happy to finally share with all of you. Sometime I last year, I saw a video of someone making a rug and I immediately knew I wanted to do that. Normally I am a creature of hobbies-I have done and fancied doing a bunch of things but, there is something about tufting and punch needling that makes me excited in my belly, it gives me mad butterflies.
When I found this interest, I immediately started researching on the tools, techniques and what not. I came to learn that this hobby is super expensive one and everything it requires are so specific and pricey. I had to take a deep breathe upon realizing that it is not going to be an easy.
First there is the tufting gun which costs from Two Hundred Dollars and above, a wooden frame, yarn, a very specific carver which looks like your regular clipper but isn't regular at all. There is lint remover, month cloth which is the canvas, felt, glue, scissors, and the last but definitely not the least is a projector.
So you see, I had to be really sure that this is something I want to do before spending all that money. And, I am super duper happy to announce that this dream of mine is finally coming to life. I went out today and purchased a few supplies which include:
- A 2 in 1 cut and loop tufting gun
- An electric lint remover
- A pair of scissors
- A current converter
The other major things left are the frame(I'm currently communicating with a carpenter on that), monk clothes, backing felt, carver, bucket of glue, and of course Yarn, lots and lots of it. I had planned on buying some monk cloth today but my supplier said to hold off on that until I have my frame and know the exact measurement of monk cloth that would fit.
My friend suggested I get a small frame for starts but nope, starting small has never been my forte. So I am working on making a 4by5 sturdy frame that can withstand the pressure from my gun. Well, that would be all for now.
Thank you for stopping by. ❤️
