First off, a very happy new year to everyone, 2024 came so fast that I couldn't even catch a chance to say hello at Christmas celebrations.
Thankfully, I can say a word or two to every one of us that's made it into 2025.
2024 was a truly crazy year, for most part, it's been a terrifying and painful year with all that's happening in Ukraine, Israel, Pakistan, and Russian, and that's only for the most covered unrest in the media, there's probably a lot more happening globally that's stealing away the joy we ought to enjoy.
Personally, like most people, it's been a crazy year mixed with fun days and sad days but we made it into 2025 to which we owe it to ourselves to be glad and sympathetic to relations of those that couldn't be here.
Happy New Year Hive, specifically, for being an open and welcoming ecosystem, there's not a lot of it out there.
What 2025 Holds For Web3
Web3, of course, the buzzword of the cryptocurrency ecosystem as most people find it, what could be possibly expected for the ecosystem in 2025?
It's no news that we're in a bull run, the Defi market tells a story, just as centralized exchanges volumes surge paints a picture of increased attention.
But this isn't about the bull run, prices will rise and fall, and many will gamble but perfecting wealth building will require identifying key developing sectors and/or solutions.
Coupled with everything that came with 2024 was the rise of artificial intelligence and this will be a huge piece of web3 developments going forward.
We are seeing a growing narrative surrounding AI agents integrated with blockchains and this is positioned to greatly improve the ecosystem's drive towards a truly decentralized Internet with autonomous functionality.
That said, AI in web3 is only one of many sectors with expected increased development and adoption.
Stablecoins will be a huge area of development and adoption. With the EU regulatory clarity and growing institutional interest as Ripple launches its own Stablecoin — RLUSD — stablecoins are bound to explode in 2025.
Surely, these are centralized developments but they are not the only expected sectors to grow.
Decentralized stablecoins will likewise experience expansion, starting with HBD which has recently grown in utilities through being accepted for premium and creator subscriptions on INLEO to being accepted by numerous IRL merchants.
That said, asides HBD there seems to be some new decentralized stablecoins hitting the market and this is coming from a new project called USUAL.money but details are best reserved for another post.
We are also looking to see a rise of tokenized real world assets as crypto earns widespread adoption. Infrastructure-wise, DePINs will be a sector to watch in 2025.
Things are likely to happen really quickly as many projects will aim to capitalise on the bull season for launching fresh products. Certainly, many of these projects may fail, especially within the AI sector, which is expected to be widely saturated.
2025 is going to be an interesting year, AI will be the biggest narrative not only within the web3 or crypto ecosystem but also within the broader world of tech.
