Do you update the medical kit in your car?

in #hive-1679222 days ago

Recently I was in an event and there was a need for a medical kit. I immediately thought that I can get it from the car. But when I checked my car, it was all expired. The medical kit emergency was then solved by something else. That's when I realized that it is important to have a proper medical kit in the car. Most of the cars and even Bikes will have it but the sad thing is that it will not last longer. Mostly the ointments and Band-Aids expire and we usually miss that.

Only when there is an emergency situation we will know the importance of this kit. We might sometimes consider that this is a very small thing and we might have other emergency facilities or clinic nearby but there can be instances where we may not be able to reach out to the nearby hospital that fast. Having a simple medical kit can be a life savior. The medical kit can consist of the following items.

  • Some Cotton
  • Tincher or any cleaning solution
  • Band-Aids
  • Wound covering roll
  • Basic ointments for burns and other wounds

For safety reasons, these are the things that can be used. It is not that we are thinking about bad things happening. But we can stay positive and think that having a kit with these things may not help us but at least help someone in need right. The cost of purchasing these things is not going to be very costly. It can hardly cost less than 2 dollars if I'm not wrong (In India. Not sure about other places). Mostly they have a decent expiry time and can last over a year or more. Spending 2 dollars for our safety is not going to be a big deal I would say.

We shouldn't be compromising on any spending we do on the emergencies in my opinion. Something we do for prevention will always give us second thoughts but we cannot prove the importance of the preventive measure because we are preventing things from happening. But I personally have had instances where this medical kit was very helpful in two instances where we had to deal with some cut wounds during an event and the medical kit from the car was very helpful. Someone had a recently bought car and the medical kit in the car had all fresh items and they were very useful.

I would say it is good to do this check once a year or once in a while to see if we can keep this kit up to date. The importance will be known only if we meet some unfortunate circumstance but my instinct says that if we have this and if we are prepared, maybe the bad thing won't even happen.

It is very important to have a medical kit, it only costs $2. It is a good idea to keep it in your car to prevent excessive bleeding in case of an emergency.
