Multitasking is a silent killer

in #hive-1679224 months ago

If you check with some of the successful people, they are purely against Multitasking. During the initial days until we understand it is bad, it is very fancy to work on many things at a time. There have been several problems because of multitasking and it is not a good thing for our health too. During a young age, multitasking may not be a problem because our brain might have the potential to handle the stress but when people start increasing in age, it can be hard to multitask and there will be some misses.

While doing it it can be very normal but when people multitask a lot they might have incomplete tasks and those tasks silently sit in the mind and will even disturb the sleep.

Getting out of multitasking

Even today I find it very hard to get out of multitasking. A few years back I had a serious anxiety issue and one of the biggest reasons for my anxiety was multitasking. I had many backlogs on me and it was piling up and at one point it was creating a silent stress on me without my knowledge. I thought it was a good thing to work on multiple things at the same time and it was also looking fancy but later I realized it was not helping and the progress was also very poor.

One good way to get rid of multitasking is by scheduling our work and reducing the distraction. If we are starting to work on something and if there is an item that keeps disturbing us from our action item list, we have to be strict about working on the planned timelines. Just because it was interesting to work on something else, we shouldn't switch. This way discipline will be maintained and it can be easy to do one task after the other. There have been days for me where I sit in front of my laptop to complete something and after a few hours, I realize that I would not even open that project that intended to do and might have worked on so many other things and some might still look incomplete.

Multitasking cannot be avoided

Indeed, we cannot completely avoid multitasking. Even though I talk this much on this topic, I still multitask and sometimes I cannot avoid it. I have to work on multiple things and there are many priorities around me. It is the case for many people too. But one good thing to do is to not make it a stress for us. It is okay to skip some deadlines for the sake of our health. Sometimes we have to multitask and as long as we are comfortable with that, it should be okay.

Time management plays an important role in avoiding multitasking. If we are good at planning our time and if we are strict in focusing only on the right things to do, we might be able to avoid multitasking to some extent. But ultimately we will not be able to get rid of it completely. But if we can stay calm and work on a couple of things without affecting our health, it shouldn't be a big deal.

Even though there is so much beauty in multitasking, I will say it can really be so demanding at times

Without a doubt, multitasking is a silent enemy. While it can be very useful, I believe it’s best to choose our battles wisely and determine which tasks we can handle this way and which ones deserve our full attention.

Multi-tasking is harmful to mental and physical health, it should be avoided

I think I have really been in that shoe before. I must actually confess that the world of multitasking is really demanding and it actually requires a whole lot of effort at times to get somethings done I must confess

Multitasking can be good because you can do a lot of things at the same time but if you handle too many things, you may not be able to achieve anything
I won’t say that multitasking is not good generally but can be good if you will only handle a few things

Multitasking is good if you are capable of handling one or more things. But one of the most important thing is timing and scheduling .It’s not always easy to do more than one thing at a time.
At times it might result in delay on one.

It is 100% true that multitasking increases your anxiety level a lot, along with this I have seen that people who do multitasking always have a strange restlessness inside them. People think that multitasking makes them more skilled but if you look closely, it is killing you from the inside.

While multitasking is often unavoidable, it's essential to be aware of its potential downsides and take steps to mitigate them. Balancing task management with self-care can help ensure that multitasking doesn’t become overwhelming or detrimental to your well-being.
