Today with the help of AI, we can get all the information that we require. There are also AI models that learn by interacting with others. Knowledge sharing has seen abundant innovations in the last few decades and it is expected to continue even further with the help of AI and ML, this is going to become very easy.
My colleague who is now in his 50s used to tell me that when they first started working, there was no internet and they had to completely rely on their coding skills and the books they had with them. Later the situation changed and they slowly moved to documentation. Today if we need something in a code or if we need some clarity we can either ask Google or the generative AI that provides better results equivalent to what we would have received from a human being with some little extra brains.
Google search can get replaced with AI
Today we are reaching out to Google or a similar search engine if we need something. We get our answers and after AI got popular, we are also getting a AI generated response too in our browser. Stack overflow used to be the best place to get our answers and it will be directed just from the Google search itself. But today people reaching out to Stack Overflow or a similar site is reducing. Most of the answers are provided with AI and there are multiple AI-based websites available that can provide us not only answers to the question but they can do a lot more.
For someone who need a sample code for a website, they can just tell the AI and the AI will provide the entire code to them. Similarly, if someone would like to generate images based on some prompts, there are websites available now that can create such free images too. So everything is changing and everything is becoming better and we have to embrace this AI technology. Google search will still be there but a lot of AI elements can get added to it.
AI tools creating automatic documentation
Today there are facilities available to create documentation with the help of AI. All we have to do is just give the code to the AI and AI can understand the code and add simple to advanced documentation or comments on the code. This is a great innovation because creating documentation is one of the pain areas for any developer. They would be ready to write any line of code but documenting what was written in the code is a painful task.
Asking the right question
In the future, the major challenge will mostly be on asking the right questions to the AI. Today we are already doing that with Google search too but since it is AI, we might have a better experience or we might have to be more specific with the question we are asking an AI.
