Top 5 reasons to quit our 9 to 5 job and explore

in #hive-16792210 months ago

For some people, a 9 to 5 job is a very big dependency. I'm currently someone who needs this 9 to 5 job to keep my life safe. But my thoughts are towards going out of the 9 to 5 job so that I can achieve many things. A regular full-time job gives lots of advantages. One big advantage is the financial fulfillment and a good cash flow every month. If we can create the same cash flow from other sources, that is when we can make a wise decision to quit our 9 to 5 job.

In this article, we are going to see the top 5 reasons to quit our 9 to 5 job and explore the other options we have in our life. Sometimes we get the clarity only after we come out of our comfort zone. A 9 to 5 job is a comfort zone that we have and it provides a good source of income and many people don't even want to think anything beyond this. Let's go through the reasons to quit a 9 to 5 job.

Career Growth and Fulfillment

Sometimes if we are used to the 9 to 5 jobs, we might end up doing the same type of work again and again. This will not give us any career growth or fulfillment. Quitting the job and seeking alternatives can be a great solution for this but there is a fear factor that can stop us from doing it. My current situation is something similar to my day job. I'm sitting in a comfort zone. Even though I'm learning a lot and exploring new things, something makes me feel that I should be doing something more toward career growth and fulfillment.

Work and life balance

Many people keep their working hours even beyond 9 to 5 timings. Those people are the sad ones who cannot do much. This is one of the strongest reasons why someone should think about alternatives to a 9 to 5 job. If we can have an alternative earning avenue, we can probably have a good work-life balance and be able to spend a lot of time with the family.

Stress and anxiety

This is one of the biggest problems for people who are working in a stressful environment. For some people, the job nature itself is highly stressful and it is hard to change the work style. There might be a need to change the work nature itself completely. Living with stress and anxiety may not be a healthy thing. For this very reason, we should quit our 9 to 5 job if things are not working out and look for alternatives.

Flexible working

Some people prefer to work flexibly. One of my friends always prefers to work from home all the time. Even if he is switching from one job to another, he tries to pick up a job that demands the employees to work from home. This is one of the flexibility someone can have in their jobs. It is good to quit a 9 to 5 job and look for these flexibilities.

Entreprenership

Some people might have a dream to become an entrepreneur in their life. The first important step in this process is to quit their 9 to 5 job and find an alternative source of income. To be more clear it is better to find another good income source and then quit the job. If the idea is to have financial independence very soon, becoming an entrepreneur is an attractive option. At the same time, we must also be very careful because it doesn't work well for everyone.

Even though we have discussed so many points regarding quitting our 9 to 5 job, I would like to indicate that this does not apply to everyone and not everyone can be an entrepreneur. Some people dream and some people do. We have to do a personal analysis and choose a job that is suitable for us. For some people having a 9 to 5 job with a routine might be the comfortable one.

Having a 9 to 5 job is sometimes a boon, because month end or beginning, you gave a regular income to meet your expenses. Sometimes its a curse as we have to ignore so many happy moments and focus only on work. Nice realization article.

Yes that's the biggest problem. We cannot take enough leaves during important occasions of our live. That's not good.

Very much true.

indeed your post inspires to get out of the comfort zone and explore the opportunities

Having 9-5 jobs won’t let us have the time to focus on our career and that’s why I want to stop my offline work next month but I’m glad that I have at least gathered some money I can use to start my life pending the time I’d begin to earn from my career

That's nice. All the very best.

After 20+ years in a 9-5 kind of situation and having side hustles, I know that whole thing is not for me. I will find any and all things I can do to survive without having to bow to a boss. It's been a difficult road at times, but I feel like the time I am giving to someone else for a few bucks is not worth what I can be doing to build my own self-sustaining income.

If I have sufficient income, I would also stop bowing to the boss. That's one thing that I hate too. If the boss is really a good one, I don't mind bowing really. But most of the time we don't get it that way.

I've never worked a 9 to 5 job. I love creative work, like stock trading.

That's really nice. If the income is sustainable, then there is no need for a 9 to 5 job.

Perfect reason you have listed out. I always believed our 9 to 5 job is always a liability

I think 9-5 is history now. There are rarely jobs which are 9-5. Most of them are 11-9.
When someone thinks of quitting 9-5 job there has to be an alternative which they have to do in life. 9-5 jobs gives a purpose of life for many of them. Without the job life becomes purposeless. And when your mind starts realising this then your organs one by one start giving up. So it has to be well thought.

Yeah 9-5 is a common term to denote this lifestyle. Maybe we can call it a dependency on a full-time job.

I mean we should have some purpose in life but it shouldn't be a forced one and it shouldn't be the one we don't like.

Yes, for some people, they might find 9-5 job convenient for them depending on the nature of the work but when it becomes something that is stressful and demands more time from such a person to the extent of not having time for themselves and developing personally, then considering quiting such a job is the best and a great deal. After all, we all want a job that won't demand much from us, creating time for other important things and being flexible. This is what a work from home can do and provide.

Having a 9-5 job sometimes can really be stressful as I can testify to that. I am always in full support of working from home
