Building a quality Splinterlands deck requires time, patience and of course, a decent amount of investment. In the past couple of months, I have had to put all these virtues to work to grow my personal deck.
After selling off all the monsters in my previous deck in the SEED deal, I started slowly adding monsters to a different Hive account and so far so good, I'm already upwards of $1000. At the time of writing, I have a collection power of 96 465 that is mostly delegated to my friend.
The plan has always been to get back into brawling in the gold league but I'm still some way off that mark. It will take a significant amount of investment to get me into the gold leagues and that's where opening packs will come in.
I've mostly relied on opening packs to grow my Splinterlands deck. Since the start of this year, I reckon I have opened up to 1000 packs spread across different monster editions.
Some of the monsters I found in the opened packs were all sold when I decided to auction my previous Splinterlands deck. I'm not going to lie, I really miss that deck and when I'm in a better position in life, I'm going to start working towards getting some of the older edition monsters that I grew fond of.
I'm also playing with the idea of taking a trip down memory lane by buying alpha, beta and orb packs. Nothing crazy though, just one or two of each to feel how it is to open them. I have opened an orb or two in the past but I wasn't around when alpha and beta packs were on sale, so that would certainly be a nice feeling.
Anyway, for now, all I have are chaos legion packs top open and the monsters inside them are criminally underpriced. For example, despite offering 12,500 collection power, the legendary gold foils are undervalued, with some trading well below $100.
When ranked return?
I really haven't put a timeline on my return to Splinterlands ranked battle participation. For now, I'm just focused on growing my deck through strategic purchases.
At the time of writing, a major chunk of my deck is delegated to a friend and he has been actively brawling. We have a very similar arrangement to what I had with SEED project.
Other than opening packs to receive random monsters in my deck, we also have specific monsters that he recommends I add to improve the battling proficiency. This approach favours me because, in the long run, I intend to get back into playing ranked battles since that's where all the fun is at.
If I were to speculate, I reckon I'll get back into the game when I have a deck with upwards of 250K collection power. At that point, I'd like to have maxed out some of the rare chaos legion summoners and even some of the legendaries.
I'd also like to have added some "must-haves" like Gellatinous Cube, Cerberus, Cornealus, and Flesh Golem to mention a few. I want to ensure that my deck is aggressive and ready to push for top spots in the Gold leagues.
