Facebook otherwise now known as meta has been a laughing stock for the last few years. With crashing down users on Facebook to a very failed and very ugly metaverse push which cost billions to the launch of threads from Instagram that's pretty much lost all of its members could the Zuck finally be on to something promising with his latest rollout?
A New Metaverse?
The metaverse has been and still is a highly talked about thing at least for meta. When the shutdown happened the metaverse became a huge thing. However the tech and applications for it where extremely lacking and underwhelming. However it was really the only way to people to connect with each other and have some form of resemblance with "normal" day life during those times. It's why it exploded in those times as a way to reconnect and just have a little fun since no one was going out.
As soon as all of that was lifted it was a quick crush of the crypto markets and with it the Metaverse NFTs etc. It became the end of the bull run.
Much of that metaverse at the time was very cartoonish and looked bad. It just felt like things that already existed and it didn't have that connection. But Meta might be on to something with what they call "photorealistic avatars".
What it does it mirrors what that person looks like in real life but with a VR headset and noise canceling headphones it very much so feels you are right there with that person. Seeing them as if they where standing right in front of you seems to rebuild that human connection and it's one of the core things that made Facebook so great when it first came out.
Lex Friedman did a one hour podcast while being fully in on this Metaverse photorealistic avatar that you can check out here.

The Connection
Like above the part that was missing from the metaverse was the human connection. The reason why video calling has become so popular is the ability to see someone on video and talk with them. Soon you very well might be able to play games and other fun things in this 3d setting while all this time it feels exactly like they are there in the room with you.
Just look at what the metaverse was and what it is today that Zuck is building out and it's clear to see how actully mind blowing and popular this very well might become.
Cloud meta the company actully be on the verge of the next evolution of the metaverse? This to me gives me serious double takes on the company now and the possibilities it's building. What are you thoughts?
