What's New With Hive Feb 16th 2025

in #hive-1679224 days ago

Ah well normally these posts are a little boring with not too much going on. But just a day ago we got a big shake up which in my opinion is a great thing for hive!

But first let's take a look at price action over the last week

Week to week we actully saw zero change in the token price we ended up right where we left off. Some might say that's a bad thing but I look at it as a positive as there is some rather high inflation on the token and sell pressure so just being able to hold value is an impressive move in itself. Over the last month however we are way down we can crashing down to our lows on Feb 8th and slowly been moving up from there. However this time 30 days ago hive was at $0.50+ It might not feel like a big price change but percentage wise it's rather massive.

Now on to the juicy news. As many of you know one thing I really hate about the DHF is the over spending that happens. And my thought was as long as a dumb ass expensive rally car was going to keep being paid for then I'm going to support other projects like LEO to pass for funding because at least there's something visible to see there.

One of my biggest nit picks with it was that if @blocktrades (sorry to call you out there) wasn't voting for a project then most of these projects would never see funding. In particular the value fund which over 50% of the vote value for that every time ended up coming from blocktrades and passed.

Well Blocktrades now voted for the return proposal which has eliminated every DHF funded project but one which is ecency which I'll be honest ecency does a pretty good job of both running a beautiful UI and also attracting new people to hive. However I would like to see them off set some of those costs with a few ads on their platform so it's not a constant drain of funds. These platforms if large enough should be able to fund themselves through ads and other methods like normal social media platforms do. and to be frank I really don't care if you dislike ads and all of that. It's how things work and it has to happen so get over it. Sure there is a limit to the amount of ads but a nice clean interface with just a few ads can go a very long way in supporting the platform while still giving the end user a great experience.

Now if it where up to me one of these things should be happening next.

  1. Blocktrades votes up every proposal including the return proposal and that creates an even playing field again. or
  2. Blocktrades simply no longer votes for any of the proposals
  3. a possible solution put a max vote cap on accounts like blocktrades (however I feel like this would just be easily circumvented by multi accounts)

Whatever your feelings are I personally am happy to see this. The amount of over spending that was happening from the DHF on random dumb shit that was not contributing to growth, development etc and instead was done as charity work which to be frank was nothing more then a massive drain on the entire hive economy and taking money out of the hands of investors such as myself.

How long this will hold up I'm unsure but honestly I'd like to see the DHF not used at all for a while. Or to look at programs and expect and demand more of them. Such as ecency should be a profitable company in itself by now and doesn't need the DHF funding to keep their site running which honestly is just a skin UI over the hive blockchain it's nothing special.

These projects should only have have funding for max a year before they get reevaluated and honestly should either be profitable or ask for a lot less funds. It shouldn't be a constant thing. I look at the DHF as funding for core development and also as a incubator to support new development on the chain.

Goals

$HIVE

Goal: 300,000 Current: 126,080

There's no week over week as last week I didn't get to pull numbers from being away. However I feel like this is progressing well but a little too slowly. I do have hive funds in other areas which are not counted such as liquid but I think this year we are going to start doing a very heavy push to that 300,000 mark. The main reason why I want to hit that 300,000 mark at least is because that will land me at one of my goals which is 100 hive per day. That might sound like a lot but that's really only $32.90 a day at these prices of which most of it gets locked up as powered up hive right away via APR, curation and then half the author rewards so it's actully very hard to get liquid hive.

HBD

HBD continues to grow and I want to hit at leas 25,000 by end of year as long as the APR holds. My worry is always that once I throw a bunch into it the APR will change. That's always my luck lol. So if you see me ape into it it might be time to get out (joking of course).

$LEO

What can I say about LEO. A once project I supported but just kept slapping me around, missing deadlines and working on things that don't bring value to the token. I'm pretty over LEO these days but will still mildly support it on DHF proposals and holding my 150k+ tokens and curating with it. But the days of actully putting money into the token I believe for me are over.

After losing tons of money in LEO I've just had enough and I'm not very positive on the token price and it moving any time soon ever. Unless I start to see the team work on token asset price again I'm out in terms of fiat support. Do better guys. Your token price speaks for itself and you're history of failed project after failed project also is speaking volumes it's not good and needs to be changed.

Splinterland

We are getting closer and closer to land 1.75! and as I was writing this I actully kicked off clearing yet another plot of land! That now brings me up to 36 plots cleared out of my 142 lol still a while to go! Land is actully a massive investment. To get all of my plots optimized for the top of the line I'm looking at staking 7,100,000 DEC to get everything operational. Not counting time, fees and so forth it ends up being over $5,000 invested into land.

Great breakdown.

I agree with your point about ads and front-ends being self reliant.
At some point the self reliant has to happen.

The news on DHF can be a factor in the price of HIVE

It seems he withdraw his support from the return proposal. Let the money incinerator start again!

that was quick when I wrote this it was still on

Quick and so disappointing, not even enough time for some wasteful projects to do some introspection. Blocktrades :(

You are getting closer on your goal which is great
