Die Meldung AKTIE IM FOKUS: Trister Umsatzausblick schickt Moderna auf Talfahrt ist nur eine von vielen negativen Meldungen zu Moderna. Projekte verzögern sich, Studienergebnisse fallen nicht aus wie gewünscht. Sowas kommt schlecht an bei den Börsianern.

Aber dann kam die letzte Woche und innerhalb von ein paar Tagen explodierte der Kurs wieder auf über 105€. Unter Strich bleibt zwar nur ein knappes Plus von 3% auf Jahressicht. Aber immerhin besser als -40% bei Moderna.
Positive News gibt es eigentlich nicht wirklich zu Biontech. Ist es also nur eine Reaktion auf die schlechten News von Konkurrent Moderna? Da ich keine Glaskugel besitze, kann ich diese Frage leider nicht beantworten.
Biontech und Moderna haben ja mit den Corona-Impfstoffen Milliarden verdient. Sie haben beide auch bewiesen, dass die mRNA-Technologie das Potential besitzt sehr schnell Impfstoffe auf den Markt zu bringen. Bei Corona half beiden, dass der Bedarf sehr groß war und dadurch die Zulassungsverfahren beschleunigt wurden.
Beide Firmen haben sich ordentlich Cashreserven zulegen können und investieren diese in die Forschung und Entwicklung von Therapien gegen Krebs. Bei einem Erfolg winken da natürlich wieder dicke Gewinne. Aber es ist wohl doch um einiges einfacher einen Impfstoff gegen ein ganz spezifisches Virus zu entwickeln als eine Therapie gegen Krebs. Krebs ist ein sehr komplexes Thema und daher sollte es niemanden wundern, dass hier keine schnellen Ergebnisse geliefert werden können.
Dass Biontech als Sponsor beim Bundesligisten FSV Mainz einsteigt hat wohl nicht dazu geführt, dass der Kurs so explodiert ist.

Biontech and Moderna have earned billions with the corona vaccines. They have both also proven that mRNA technology has the potential to bring vaccines to market very quickly. What helped both of them with Corona was that the need was very great and the approval process was accelerated as a result.
Both companies have been able to build up considerable cash reserves and are investing them in research and development of therapies against cancer. If you're successful, you'll of course win big again. But it is probably a lot easier to develop a vaccine against a very specific virus than a therapy against cancer. Cancer is a very complex topic and it should therefore come as no surprise that quick results cannot be provided.
