There has been a boom in new fight promotions by current and ex-fighters. For example:

- Adam Kovacs: Karate Combat - Full-Contact Karate
- Urijah Faber: A1 Combat - MMA
Francis and Crypto
This might be connected to the world of crypto via Francis Ngannou, the current UFC Heavyweight Champion. He made a splash in the world of crypto before his last championship defense at UFC 270.
In partnership with CashApp, he turned half of his fight purse into Bitcoin. That means he exchanged around $300k into BTC.

Three Kings Fight Promotion
Ngannou recently sat down with True Geordie for a podcast, where he talked about his long journey to become the heavyweight champion, freedom, fairness, family, a possible fight against Tyson Fury and of course his fierce battle for better fighter pay with Dana White.
The whole podcast is worth watching. Especially for somebody who doesn't already know his journey. The part related to crypto starts at minute 38:

Francis brings up the possibilty to raise money for a new fight promotion in Africa via a DAO. The explicit idea is to not only use it as a funding vehicle, but to use it to put governance decision on the table for all stakeholders to decide on.
From the way he casually talks about it, it sounds like he has been putting quite a lot of work into this project already.
There is even a potential name that hints at some of his partners. The UFC has currently three champions from Africa:
- Israel Adesanya - UFC Middleweight Champion from Nigeria
- Kamaru Usman - UFC Welterweight Champion from Nigeria
- Francis Ngannou - UFC Heavyweight Champion from Cameroon
often referred to as The Three Kings.
With the amount of promotions popping up, the lack of fight promotions in Africa and the possibilty to raise and govern the organization on a blockchain, it seems like there is a possibility to have crypto leak into the real world.
Francis doesn't only foresee a bright future for crypto in general, but for Africa in particular.
