Remembering to communicate 🗣

If you are looking to be a content creator on Hive, one of the most important parts of it all is user engagement. If all you did was post and have zero interactions ever, what would be the point? This is a social platform and that means we are to socialize.

Hive doesn't have the user base that the mainstream apps like YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, Tik Tok, Facebook, and others already have. We aren't to the point of there being so many people around that it's normal to see a post with thousands of comments. That could happen one day in the future, but it will probably be a while. Until that time comes, we have the opportunity to reply to the few people who are actually willing to take a close look at the things we create.

In today's video, I have decided to discuss why I think you should be replying to and upvoting every comment that you get. There is a lot more to it than just saying thanks, but I believe I explain my reasoning for believing this quite well in the video.

If you watched my video today, let me know what you think. I'm pretty sure most will agree that replying to the comments you get is pretty important to the success of both Hive and yourself. Plus it's fun!

Feel free to comment below and I'll get back to you soon after. Thanks for stopping by, I'll see you again tomorrow.

Show us more of your surrounding every now and then! Seems like a very nice boulevard. :)

I'll try to do that. I have tried using two cameras at once a few times. You can see what I mean by that in this video from last week https://peakd.com/hive-167922/@daltono/vuwodsri. Some people found two cameras at once to be annoying, but I will try to do it again sometimes. Where I live here in West Virginia is definitely gorgeous. I will also try to get out and go to some different places to record, it's just so convenient for me to walk 5-10 minutes to the boulevard.

I totally agree. It's very sad to comment to someone and not get a reply. The opposite is encouraging. We are all trying to make friends on this platform, at least I am. It is very pleasant to have someone comment on my post, to read it, to understand it, to respond to it. I hope everyone thinks the same as me. Any news about your car by the way?

I'm used to not getting replies in other places such as YouTube and I understand why. However we are just in a totally different stage over here with Hive. There really isn't much excuse for anybody who can't take her time to reply.

Yes, I got my car back yesterday evening and everything is back to 100%. Thanks for asking bro.

I am happy to be in this stage in Hive. This feels like a real human 😂. You are welcome. Hope you never have that problem again.

I'm telling you now bro, you are positioned to set off like a rocket in the future if you stay with this. Hive has changed my life and allowed me to quit a job that I loathed. I haven’t been happier in years.

Thanks for your advice. This comment made me feel extremely good. I'm a computer engineer. Who knows, maybe one day I will develop software for hive 😅.

This place could always use more computer geniuses.

Agreed and more social geniuses like you.

I try and comment when I can

That's better than some people do. I wouldn't ever feel bad for just upvoting and not commenting, but I would definitely be putting some effort into any comment that you do have time to leave. You never know, it could spark a deeper conversation or maybe just result in a lasting memory of sorts.

Lol, I tried commenting to this post via LeoMobile and ended up commenting on your older post.

Not only is commenting and replying a good habit to exhibit, it helps one's account to grow as well in building relationships, broadening one's friendship circle on the chain, there are lots of upside to engaging and I implore we all put in the effort into that.

I saw that and knew what you meant to do right away.

I'm glad to be seeing your username again in my comments regularly bro!

Yeah for sure! I’ve tried to reply to every comment for a while but upvoting them only started in the last year or so. I was a little stingy with my voting power but realized as long as it’s over 90% it’s worth the vote and people tend to come back for the engagement. I feel bad that I sometimes forget one or two for a while before coming back lol

Now that my upvote is actually worth a decent bit, I really enjoy rewarding people a bit for commenting. It is hard to keep up with comments sometimes, but I try to remember which ones I've replied to by always upvoting afterward... That way when I'm scrolling through my replies on PeakD, I can easily figure out what I've missed.

I leave comments that I don't expect a reply to all the time.. especially if it's a gif or a meme.. or if I'm just busting balls.. but as far as upvoting comments I'm definitely a fan. !pimp

Yea true, there are some comments that are acknowledged easily by just viewing and not having to reply. GIFs are a great example of that, I do that sometimes too.

You and @davedickeyyall know I speak gif.

We should bring out the social part of Hive. Even though things are not where they were before, we can always do more.

One comment at a time, we’ve got this 😎

Yes, we do. LFG!🔋

The relationships are literally the most valuable thing I’ve found at Hive, and that’s coming from someone who is up 5x and Stacked more savings than o ever have from a job. I didn’t know there were people who don’t reply to comments, I usually forget them pretty quickly 😆. Nice to find another good 3speaker, trying to quit the tube as a source of content

I agree with you so hard. The opportunities that this place has given me are tremendous. I do wish we had more in-person meetups going on here in the USA. Other parts of the world too of course for users not local to North America. I've only ever been to one get-together, but it was a great experience. These types of things would increase the strength of all these relationships even more.

I'm glad you decided to watch this one. Clearly, you are serious about actually using 3Speak, which we need more people to get onboard with.

Engaging with people is key on Hive and Leo, and helps encourage others as well.

It really is. Those who focus mainly on engagement see the quickest growth and success rate, at least that’s what I believe.

This really helped me a lot. The thing is I really appreciate and value all comments because they spent their valuable time on my post. 😀

Love your post.

Isn't it amazing whenever just one person takes the time to say something positive or interesting about something you created? It's just so satisfying, even more so when there are several people doing that. Social media isn't so bad if you use it in the right ways.

❣️

I agree since it is not just publishing you have to take a few minutes to respond to the comments that are made to us since the user who takes the time to read us deserves all the possible respect that we could give him. We hope that the interaction between #Hive users will continue to increase, this whole group will make us achieve the success we seek.

Reading a publication or watching an entire video is often nearly as difficult the creation process itself. Comments like these are what increase overall engagement and encourage growth.

if you have to take your time and more for example in my case since I don't speak English and I have to translate almost paragraph by paragraph of the most interesting posts for me so it's almost like creating a post and sharing it with the whole #Hive family.

I think you do a fantastic job with translating, I didn’t even notice that’s what you were doing. You’re right, that does require a lot of effort indeed.

Actually Hive is very usefull platform to socialize with people. As you said, to find new people is more difficult in other platforms because there are lots of people even fake ones..

Bots on other platforms are rampant. Hive feels more human and fair. I appreciate every interaction that I have here and can definitely say this is the social media app where I’ve met the most cool people and look forward to continuing to be introduced to new faces.

Yeah, right. Specially in here people help each other, too. This is very valueble..

good words buddy, A lot of people came here just for making money but they missed the right point! Hive is not just about money! we should make fun of and knowledge from it.

Money is just one of many reasons to be here and stay here for the foreseeable future. Friendships can be made and lived can be changed, you don’t have to be wealthy to be able to do that.

This is the first post I have read in HIVE and it is great advice. This seems like a very friendly community. I look forward to posting, upvoting and commenting everyday.

I'm honored that my post was the first one that you decided to view. This place is great. I highly suggest that you create an #introduceyourself post to get things started. Can be written or video, just make sure to use that hashtag so that curators can find you. Otherwise feel free to get creative on your own, looking forward to seeing what you're about. If you have any other questions ever, be sure to let me know... always happy to help.

I'm delegating you some HP by the way, that way you have enough resource credits to post.

howzit?! do they cut the grass by where u are walking on these vids?

I am only on hive to try and milk it for all the $$$ I can on auto, without actual interaction.. j/k :P I enjoy all the convos and stuff!

personally, I am NOT to social in person.. but online is different, at least here on hive.. I feel like I can be the most social person that is in me to be. 😁🦾

ps. I like your shirt.. reminds of E. Honda's stage in Street Fighter 2

image.png

They sure don't seem excited about cutting the grass on the steep hillside. It has been trimmed down looking good before, but I guess they are more focused on repaving all of the roads right now rather than cutting down the grass next to the part of the boulevard that not many people ever go down on besides vagrants and Mr. Daltono.

I know that's not the main reason you are here, otherwise, you wouldn't be a commenting beast like you are! You sure seem social on here and I bet you can be in person too with the right crowd.

That's a great SF stage!

😁😊😎🤙

I have always seen Hive as a community and each member as family. I have also always made interaction to post I love.

You have stated clearly that it is a social network let me add "A social network that comes with reward"

This is another form of encouragement for me.

Thanks for sharing

Cheers 🍻

With that type of vision, it is no wonder there are so many people willing to interact with each other here. I think a lot of people share the same sentiment as you. They consider this place a big part of their life and think about it and the people even when they aren’t online.

I appreciate you stopping by 🙌

Well said. Looks like a great place for a walk too.

Replying to comments is so important. Most people want interaction with their social media. Commenting on posts and replying to comments can create that interaction. As you said, we're not Facebook or Twitter or some huge social platform with millions of users online at any given time. Like they said in the old "punk rock" days, it's your scene, you create it. Commenting and replying to comments is how we create "the scene" on Hive. With a small, tight-knit community, post interaction can be more valuable to some people than an upvote. Especially when you're first starting out here.

I always try to reply to every comment. I still need to make more time to comment on other people's posts though. This was a great reminder.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I’ve noticed that ever since I’ve started posting videos like this regularly, my posts have had a ton more comments. Engaging back and forth makes me even more excited to do my next post everyday.

I think the thing I lack on the most is commenting other people’s posts. I try to do it often, but even if I read an entire post or watch a video, I typically am on to something else after I upvote. It’s just what I’m used to doing. I don’t comment on every YouTube video that I watch either. So I think as long as you’re replying to the ones you get on your posts and occasionally visiting other’s posts when you can, then you’re doing great in my book.
