Hive offers multiple frontends for its social apps and users to interact with. This gives the users the freedom to choose their favorite one. Some of them filter out the content and focus just on a specific content.
Hive is showing how much constrained we are on traditional web2 apps like twitter. I use multiple frontends on Hive for different purpose and really like the freedom to shift between them and select what I want.
Let’s take a look of the posting on the top hive frontends and their individual share.
We all know blogging dApps are not the only ones build on Hive. Games are taking advantage of the Hive blockchain and we are already seeing more of them build each day. Splinterlands opened the gate for games on Hive, and now we have many more.
Here we will only be looking only into the blogging apps:
- Peakd
- Ecency
- Hive.blog
- LeoFinance
- 3Speak
- Liketu
- Actifit
The period that will be analyzed is 2022.
We will also rank the top frontends by number of in the last 30 days.
Peakd
According to the data the most used Hive frontend.
Here is the chart.
An overall downtrend in the numbers of posts coming from PeakD in 2022. This is in correlation with the price trends. At the beging of the year there was 1600 daily posts coming from PeakD and now we are at around 1000.
Ecency
Ecency has been around for a long time as well. They have a very good frontend as well. Some say it is the fastest ones. One the best apps included.
We can notice the downtrend here as well, but not as much as for PeakD. Actually, in the summer there was a period with the numbers going up. The year started with around 800 posts per day and now we are at around 600.
Hive.Blog
The generic Hive frontend. Its open source as well. Here is the chart.
Hive.Blog seems to have the strongest drop in posts from the top three frontends. At the beginning of the year there was around 1000 daily posts and now this number is bellow 400.
When we plot the top 3 against each other we get this.
We can notice that Ecency has been holding the best from the top three. Peakd and Hive.Blog have seen some bigger drops, especially the Hive.Blog frontend.
Its interesting to see this development, because at the early days, Hive.Blog, or the previous chain, it was the only frontend around. Now it is being surpassed by others.
LeoFinance
The chart for LeoFInance.
Leofinance is holding quite well in the overall market conditions. It almost has the constant numbers of daily posts coming from it. Not an increase, but not a drop eighter. Around 150 daily posts coming from leofinance in 2022.
3Speak
The number of posts/videos from the Hive video platform.
The video platform on Hive, 3Speak. A visible downtrend here with the number of daily posts going from 250 at the beginning of the year to around 100 now. There is a lot of oscillation here so at times this number is at 150.
Actifit
Another short form app.
Actifit is one of the first Hive apps. It is a fitness app where users share their step counts per day. A move2earn. Quite a steady number of posts from Actifit with numbers around 250 posts per day. There was a jump in the numbers back in March, this was around the time when some other move to earn apps appeared on the market.
Number Of Posts From All Hive Frontends
Here is the chart for all the Hive frontends posts per day combined.
We can see the overall downtrend here as well. The top three, PeakD, Ecency and Hive.Blog are dominant, with hive.blog loosing its share quite a lot throughout the year. Some new apps have established itself in 2022 like Liketu.
Top Hive Frontends In The Last Month
Here is the chart for the overall number of posts from the top Hive frontends the last 30 days.
PeakD is the most used Hive frontend now by. Ecency comes on the second spot and then it is hive.blog in the third position. Interesting the somee app is there as well.
Actifit, Leofinance, 3Speak in the top as well.
While there is an overall downtrend in the posting, it is interesting to see that different app on Hive perform differently. The blockchain is not that monolithic anymore, and it is far from the one site app that it was back in the old chain days.
Ecency seem to have performed the best from the top three. Hive.blog has dropped the most. Leofinance has seen a consistent numbers, not showing any drop at all. Actifit has also been consistent.
There are more than 50 apps being used to make a post in the last 30 days.
All the best
