The LARYNX claimdrop is now over. It has run for twelve months, starting from March last year. Each month users were able to claim tokens.
Starting from August a small amount of SPK tokens started to be distributed to account that powered it up or locked as node operators. This has increased the overall participation in the network from users.
The more techy users can run a node for the claim node where the data is stored for the token. Node runners need locked LARYNX to be in the top validators for the transactions and earn fees in for of the LARYNX token.
The ones who don’t run nodes can delegate their tokens to node operators and start earning small amount of the main governance token SPK. The way it works is that both, the delegators and node operators earn a small amount of SPK.
A note that the SPK rewards at this stage are small. Don’t except to earn a lot when delegating the LARYNX tokens. I’m personally running a claim node and you can delegate LARYNX to me or some of the other node operators on the link https://vue.dlux.io/me#wallet/.
With this said let’s take a look at some LARYNX data.
We will be looking at:
- Number of accounts claiming LARYNX per day
- Number of accounts claiming LARYNX per month
- Daily locked LARYNX tokens
- Cumulative locked LARYNX
- Top accounts that locked LARYNX
The period that we will be looking at is from March 2022 to March 2023.
Number Of Accounts Claiming LARYNX Per Day
Here is the chart.
We can notice that the usually at the start of the month there is a spike in the number of accounts claiming. This is due to the fact that users can claim once per month, and as we can see a lot of them are doing it at the first of the month.
When the claiming become available first in March 2022, there was more than 1200 accounts that claimed on the first day and approximately the same amount on the second day. Since then, we can see a downtrend for the first of each month up until August.
August 2022 has seen a spike in the tokens claimed, and the numbers has pulled down a bit since then.
On a monthly basis the chart looks like this:
This chart shows a clearer picture.
The ATH in the numbers of accounts claimed was reached in October 2022 with 4400 accounts claiming tokens that month. A small drop since then to a 3500 in February 2023.
A total of 10.5k accounts have claimed LARYNX token.
Almost 70M LARYNX tokens were claimed, and that is the current supply of the token.
If we take in consideration that the available supply of HIVE was around 370M at the moment of snapshot in January 2022, this will be around 20% claimed tokens share.
For the unclaimed token there should be a vote from the community what to do with them. There was some comments in the past to leave some additional tokens on a side for partnerships and onboarding other projects. Something in the range of 10M to 20M.
Daily Locked LARYNX Tokens For Governance
Here is the chart for daily locked LARYNX.
The chart includes both powered up and locked LARYNX. The accounts that are running a node can lock the token (white) and the accounts that are not running nodes are powering up (orange) and then delegating to node operators.
We can see that there is a spike in the amount of tokens powered up in August 2022 when the option to earn SPK became available. The amount of powered up tokens is now surpassing the amount of locked tokens by node operators, as there is more users who are powering up and delegating.
Cumulative Powered/Locked LARYNX For Governance
Here is the chart.
More than 25M LARYNX is powered/locked in governance.
This represents a 35% share from the total of 70M claimed tokens.
We can clearly see the uptrend starting from August 2022 when the option to power up was introduced and small rewards in SPK as incentives.
Top Accounts That Powered/Locked LARYNX
Here are the top accounts that powered/locked LARYNX.
@blocktrades with the dedicated @blocktrades.spk account is on the top with 2.3M, although around half of those tokens are delegated to other accounts. @encrypt3dbr0k3r is on the second spot with 1.8M powered up. He is not running a node and all these tokens are delegated to other node runners.
@grx121 and @pharesim follows, and both of these accounts are supporting other nodes with delegations.
The cofounder @thecallmedan with the dedicated account for LARYNX @tcmd-spkcc is on fifth spot now with more than 1M tokens.
Note that the ranking above is only for locked/powered up tokens, and it doesn’t not include the liquid tokens that accounts have.
As we can see from the above the number of accounts claiming LARYNX has been significant up 4.5k accounts claiming monthly and cumulative more than 10k accounts. The more owners the token has the better the distribution and the overall tokenomics. On the other hand, the amount of tokens claimed from the available is relatively low with 22% share atm. This means that there are whale accounts that are not into LARYNX and not claiming the token.
The exchange accounts have not claimed, but there are other large accounts that are not claiming.
Starting from August 2022 the amount of powered up LARYNX has increased significantly with the SPK rewards going live. The top holders have more than 1M tokens powered/locked. The overall distribution seems quite nice at the moment, especially for tokens in governance, that are earning SPK tokens.
The claiming phase in now behind us and it will be interesting to see what’s next for the project.
All the best
