Auf dem Weltwirtschaftsforum im schweizerischen Davos 2025 hat Blackrock-CEO Larry Fink jetzt Kryptowährungen wie den Bitcoin als „Währungen der Angst“ bezeichnet. Für ihn stellt das aber offenbar keinen Widerspruch dar.
Fink zufolge könnte die zunehmende weltweite Unsicherheit, die durch den Amtsantritt Donald Trumps sicher nicht verringert wird, die Kryptokurse nach oben treiben. Die Menschen würden, so Finks Theorie, in unsicheren Zeiten ihr Geld in Bitcoin und Co. als sicheren Hafen stecken.
Zuletzt zeigte sich, dass Bitcoin – im Rahmen seines vierjährigen Halving-Zyklus – eher mit der Entwicklung der Tech-Aktien korreliert als mit Gold. So wurden die Kryptokurse – mal abgesehen vom Hype um Trumps Wahlsieg – in den vergangenen Monaten eher von den möglichen und tatsächlichen Entscheidungen der US-Notenbank Fed im Hinblick auf Zinssenkungen bewegt.
Fink dagegen war sich auf großer Bühne offenbar sicher: „Wenn Sie Angst vor einer Entwertung Ihrer Währung haben oder Angst um die wirtschaftliche oder politische Stabilität Ihres Landes, könnten Sie ein international operierendes Instrument namens Bitcoin haben, das diese lokalen Ängste überwindet“.

At the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland in 2025, Blackrock CEO Larry Fink has now described cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin as "currencies of fear." For him, however, this is apparently not a contradiction.
According to Fink, the increasing global uncertainty, which will certainly not be reduced by Donald Trump's inauguration, could drive up crypto prices. According to Fink's theory, people would put their money in Bitcoin and Co. as a safe haven in uncertain times.
Recently, it was shown that Bitcoin - as part of its four-year halving cycle - correlates more with the performance of tech stocks than with gold. So, in recent months, crypto prices - apart from the hype surrounding Trump's election victory - have been driven more by the possible and actual decisions of the US Federal Reserve with regard to interest rate cuts.
Fink, on the other hand, was apparently certain on the big stage: "If you are afraid of a devaluation of your currency or fear for the economic or political stability of your country, you could have an internationally operating instrument called Bitcoin that overcomes these local fears."
