Hello, wonderful members of the Hive community, I am new here and very thrilled to be a part of you. Welcome me with love, sit back, and relax as I tell you about myself.
I am Dorcas Ebuara, a native of Bekwarra Local Government area in Cross River State of Nigeria, the state that hosts the biggest street party in the world!😊. I was born in the city of Calabar as the second child to a family of five children; with this, you can tell that I am family-oriented. Also, I'm a born-again Christian who loves God so much and believes in His word.
After completing my secondary education at the esteemed Federal Government Girls' College Calabar, I went on to the University of Calabar, where I obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Literary Studies. After NYSC, I went on to the Institute of Journalism in Abuja to get a postgraduate diploma. For the benefit of non-Nigerians, NYSC, or National Youth Service Corp, is a scheme created by the Nigerian government to promote national unity among Nigerian graduates under 30.
After bagging my PGD, I was unsure of how to begin searching for employment given how tasking it can be to get a good-paying job in Nigeria. After some time spent looking online, I was hired as a customer service representative, which I accomplished beautifully before leaving due to the toxic environment.
Some of you are wondering, "Why didn't you pursue a career in journalism?" It isn't as simple as it seems, and I will tell you that for free. I needed an organisation I could learn and still get some stipends for transportation at least, but I could not find any. So, I had to look for other opportunities to garner experience.
Because of my passion for writing and storytelling, I delved into content writing and marketing. I'm a seasoned content writer with a flair for storytelling and a passion for crafting compelling materials that captivate readers. Having worked in the field for over three years, I've honed my skills in producing a wide range of material for many platforms from articles and blogs to copy for social media and content for websites.
Additionally, to keep the fire burning in the journalism aspect of my life, I own a YouTube channel where I discuss faith, lifestyle, and food content. Okay, now you know that I love cooking, apologies for skipping that part of me earlier. 😊
With the little you know about me above, what do you think my hobbies are? Tell me 😁. Well, the funny thing is, I am not sure I have a hobby. In general, I love to see movies (both Nigerian and foreign), watch impactful videos, have great and edifying conversations, make videos for content purposes, and read books (haven't read any this year, don't judge me). All of these things shape my mind and perception of life.
Other things that get me excited are praying and interceding for others, learning and trying out new things, writing, and connecting with people, which is why I have joined Hive. Because of my quest for knowledge, I was elated when I learned about Hive and jumped on the offer to join the community and to know more about web3 and how it works.
Enough about me—tell me about YOU, too! Why did you decide to join the Hive community? What excites you the most? Tell me a little about yourself, your experience, as well as what you want to get out of joining the community.
I am using this opportunity to thank @davidebuara for getting me to join the trend and giving me tips on how to express myself through my writing skills.
I also have @johnuko and @uyobong to thank for putting me through on how to get it right.
