I first heard of the term “DECENTRALIZATION” in my government class in high school, and we were taught then that it meant redistributing power amongst the arms of government in order to reduce the power at the central government and allow the other government institutions to play an active role in steering the course of their progress and growth.
Upon being introduced to HIVE I began to revisit the concept of decentralization as it relates to the platform and it’s users.
Whilst I’m still new on the platform and have only observed it’s features briefly I’ve read that it allows its users to vote for individuals called “Witnesses” who run the servers and this “election” is open to everybody.
It allows it’s users to benefit from the platform in a way that is proportional to their contributions on the platform.
It also permits it’s users to freely express themselves without the fear of censorship.
I began to imagine my country in this Utopia of decentralization, power shared by the people willingly without the blood sucking, soul draining experience that is Nigerian politics.
The citizens able to benefit from the system as much as they contribute to its growth.
True freedom of speech and expression for the citizens.

I believe that Nigeria’s greatest economic power is its youth, if more young people take in the concept of decentralization and embrace the possibility of our country running on these ideals
We might actually begin to rally together and effect the change we want to see in our society.
We need not wait until there is an official declaration of decentralization of the country’s economic or political system, we just need to believe that we all possess individual power over our personal economic and financial situations and begin to harness that power towards building the futures that we want.
The true effect of decentralization on the Nigerian economy is the reawakening of the country’s youth.
@readthisplease and his team are proof that this is more than just a hypothesis.
