One Person

I'd rather not have to rely on a single individual for any major changes that may affect me, or society in general. What has always been championed is institutional change or a general, collective agreement. Yet fast forward to 2024 and it seems like the belief in institutions is gradually taking a backseat to relying on powerful or popular enough individuals that could potentially bring about the changes that we seek.

It isn't that the institutions have stopped working, rather there is the sudden realization that they simply don't play fair in many instances,. Some have also gone through a shift in their core functions over time that they become unrecognizable from how they were originally intended. That and realizing our own individual powerlessness in fighting corrupt institutions has made people round the World believe that much more in the 'messiah concept'.

Take for instance corrupt political institutions in some developing countries where elections are rigged, and there is the active subjugation of her citizens by the ruling class. Many times the citizens may want to fight back, but they are quickly quashed by a rather ruthless ruling class only interested in remaining at the helms of power. This leads to a rather grim scenario where it seems like help can come only from an external source. For the most parts, those expectations don't actualize and we quickly move on to the next potential savior.

There are times when our prayers are answered though. There is that one radical either rich, powerful, or popular enough to make us dream. They show the right interest, exude the right energy and devote the right amount of time. Perhaps it is those rare examples that make the rest of us hopeful, or the mere fact that there isn't too much hope of an internal change.

This isn't just about politics. We've seen what one person has done on the social media space. We've also seen it on the crypto space. As much as I'd like to see a general, organic growth on the Hive space, Yet at the same time, am not particularly opposed to having one major driver of the Hive space. If one person comes and takes the space into limelight then so be it.

It’s so true dear friend, change often starts with one person, but collective efforts usually drive lasting impact. Thank you for this one
