I am in a perpetual state of frustration with the current state of Hive in terms of growth. We really should be doing a lot better than we are, regardless of how the rest of the crypto market is faring. Yet It will be dishonest to disregard the obvious impact this platform has had on the limited number of people it has touched over the course of time. I'm taking about those who us who have direct relations with the platform and others who have been influenced as a result of the platforms reach.
Not all reward is financial, but for the sake of measuring we'd probably have to reference the direct financial impact more than anything else. Hive has consistently provided support to a small audience in a small but significant way. It is the consistency that is impressive. I remember back in 2017 a few Hivers (then Steem) raised concerns about the long term sustainability of the platform. Funny thing is that fast forward to today and I don't see any of those people active here, but the platform has survived and continues to make impact.
The impact can be felt more in developing regions than anywhere else because of weak economies and weak currencies. I've seen posts on Water Projects in Ghana and a handful of crowdfunding projects credited to the Hive platform. It is even in the day to day economic impact on individuals that it becomes more impressive. $100 a monthvin a place like the US might not mean much, but it'll do quite a bit in lower income Nations. It is obvious why Hive is popular in places like Venezuela and Nigeria coupled with the low barrier for entry.
I understand though that the platform cannot simply be one that aids survival, not if we want true growth. What we should aim for is a space that attracts the best of creators and investors from all over the World. That is the Only way to thrive long term. Good thing the majority of stakeholders on the platform are well aware of this, and most people are trying to chip in regardless of their limitations.
