I never did finish Game of Thrones. Once I heard how it ended I decided not to watch, cause I wasn't satisfied with the ending. One thing I do readily admit is that I'll probably never have as much of an interest in any other TV show ever again. The show was certainly special from the plot to the visuals and the acting, and it certainly made it Mark among the top TV shows to watch.
One of the major plots from the show was the constant threat the entire World faced from the coming winter. It meant death, and a battle they certainly couldn't win alone, and even had little chance of winning working together. Yet, like most human beings do, they still choose to fight each other and war over personal interests than face the looming threat or winter. It certainly sounds familiar, as we're wired to pursue immediate, selfish interests rather than actual long term challenges.
We see it at both the individual and community level. Nations where personal interests are pursued by the political class remain impoverished and continue to slide down the path of economic irrelevance. The funny thing is that securing personal interests doesn't make the individual safe from the eventual winter. Many times we're likely to go down with our ship if it sinks, no matter how comfortable a space we've built for ourselves.
Winter Will come no matter how well we safeguard our own sides. In the crypto space winter has come for a few players, many of whom decided to put personal interest above that of the community. Such is the true nature of times and Seasons.
