RC, HP and BEE Delegation Leasing Came to Hive-Engine

in #hive-1679222 years ago

Aggroed wrote a short post yesterday announcing the arrival of delegation leasing on Hive-Engine.

We already had the possibility to lease HP via dlease, but I'm not sure how involved the team behind it is at this point in the Hive ecosystem. Also under their umbrella is the Gina discord notifications bot which never came back after hard forks 26/27. Of course, Gina was free to use and cost resources to maintain, dlease produces some revenue through fees.

But let's get back to Hive-Engine because they added more options besides leasing HP.

Leasing RC Delegations

The Hive-Engine team introduced the first delegation leasing market for resource credits! While as I write, there seems to be little interest in it, this will not always be the case.

To be honest, I would expect big projects to get involved with the RC delegation lease market right away. It doesn't matter that the influx of new users during this brutal bear market is minimal. One should think in perspective.

And there are huge amounts of RCs sitting and doing nothing. I'm claiming account tokens with them, but let's be honest: I don't need those tokens! They do.

A big project on Hive with high onboarding perspectives when the FUD ends and the bulls return could use as many account tokens as they can get their hands on, especially since they are not tradable.

So a decent APR for leasing RC delegations could convince me and others to lease them instead of "burning through them" with almost no real benefit since I will unlikely use hundreds of account creation tokens myself.

Leasing HP Delegations

Unsurprisingly, this is the most popular feature already.

The APRs are about 4% lower than on dlease when I checked.

One difference compared to dlease is that dlease returns are in HIVE, while on Hive-Engine, the returns are distributed as SWAP.HIVE (of another selected currency - see below).

Leasing BEE Delegations

People holding BEE tokens were almost screaming for more utility for them. Well, here it is. And those who staked them and haven't sold them (unlike me), should be happy to see there are some decent returns already for them: 5-6% APR. Although not very much interest yet.

Currencies

Returns can be paid in one of the following currencies:

and they are selected when someone requests a lease. I made a test too to see a different currency than SWAP.HIVE. That's a lost 1 BEE probably since it's very unlikely to get filled, lol. But it was a test. Frankly, I thought I could cancel it afterwards.

Ending Words

It's great to see the new addition to Hive-Engine. I'm wondering if that'll make its way to TribalDex too or not, but Hive-Engine is fine. Great to see the first implementation of leasing RC delegations and hoping it'll get some traction.

Thanks for the information.

It is really great that Hive Engine introduced this, because I am not a friend of complicated system or platform. Hive Engine is really simple to use for me, though I see people call it old school.

In between, what is account token good for?

Thanks

Well, the interface was improved a bit, but this was their first attempt, thus maybe why old school. Now they have TribalDex which supports diesel pools and NftShowroom which supports a kind of NFTs specific to Hive-Engine.

About your question, account creation tokens allow someone holding them to create free accounts on Hive. Otherwise, the cost is 3 HIVE. Someone could use a service that facilitates the creation of a free account but that service consumes their own account creation token to do that.

Yeah, I like the Hive-engine the way they tried to improve it, but I think more could be done to bring it to the LEOdex level or even better.

And thank you 😊 so much for explaining the importance of account creation token.

Hmm, LeoDEX hasn't been updated in quite a while. I believe there are better interfaces now. I only use it if I want the dollar value of an account (the HE holdings, without diesel pools).

I'm just happy to see that we're putting the processes in place before a killer dApp needs them for sign ups.

Releasing it during this bear market before the onboarding starts picking up was a great move.

Thanks for this update. I will check it.

Sure RZC, do that when you have time.

😊

RZC sounds like a cool nickname! 😆😎

!LOLZ !CTP

Someone said it sounds like a bot.

!LOLZ

I wonder which type of app a bot is best named as RZC. 🤔😆

!LOLZ !CTP

I failed to ask the one who said that.

!ALIVE

@rzc24-nftbbg, sorry! You need more $ALIVE to use this command.

The minimum requirement is 1000.0 ALIVE staked.

More $ALIVE is available from Hive-Engine or Tribaldex

yeah seems like a great addition; I think account tokens will be worth at least $1-$2 in the future, so the RC cost of claiming one should have an equivalent APR

I think account tokens will be worth at least $1-$2 in the future

The only way they'll have a price would be if a change will be made so that they become tradable. Otherwise, it's every account with its own account tokens. That has been discussed in the past and there doesn't seem much willingness to do that.

How much HP do you need to have before you can claim an account creation token?

Not sure, it fluctuates. At one point it was about a dolphin-size account, minimum.

I have about 3500 hive power and can claim an account every few days...if that helps!

RC delegation will be very powerful when HIVE matures and when applications demand more resources.

I think we are already close at that point. Just remember what happened with Splinterlands when they started growing immensely last fall. They ran out of account tokens, they started using other services' tokens for a short while, and then they had to pay for creating new accounts.

This can happen to any project at any time. Maybe not right now in the bear market, but usually any amount of account tokens one thinks is enough will be insufficient when that happens.

I had someone looking to turn their excess RC in an income stream just the other day.
!PIZZA

Well, if there will be demand, we'll be able to do that.

This is awesome! thanks for sharing!

You're welcome!

If you delegate using the hive-engine market, is there a cool down at the end of the lease?

Yes. You still delegate HP and it still has the 5 days cooldown period. No cooldown for RC delegations though.

It's nice to see the changes but I don't see that many people using the platform. If it does work out, I don't mind leasing out some of my power but I just don't see myself doing it much. I'm going to be starting a rental bot soon and I claimed my first account creation token yesterday.

I'm going to be starting a rental bot soon

What kind of bot will that be? What will it do?

I mistyped. I meant that I would be using a rental bot soon so my RCs would be used there.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

It doesn't use as many RCs these days if you are talking about Splex.

I was thinking of trying out the discord bot. I have been busy lately so I plan on trying to set it up over this extended weekend.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I haven't used it, but I believe they are the same, except the discord bot doesn't have a UI and has lower fees. I'm not sure if you have access to all the tools from Splex via the discord bot though. Some of them are really useful.

PS: Although I think you can use both (not sure though). Ask for a Splex management account to access the tools from Splex and yet use the discord bot for lower fees.

With the discord bot, it will list any cards that you don't exclude. So I don't think there is much you need to do in regard to management. I'll have some time tomorrow so I plan on trying to set it up then.

Splex is hands off too. It just has tools you can use on the interface (not related to managing rentals) which I'm not sure are available through discord.

Leasing out RC would be really nice. I had not really paid much attention to my RC over the past few months until the latest fork.
I have delegated some already, and it hardly put a dent in my total RC.
Getting compensated for it makes it extra special.

Yep, I love seeing RC delegation leasing already. It will slowly become very popular, I'm sure of it.

Great news! It will be interesting to see how much this will be in demand in the future or in a bull market!
!CTP

In the bull market, I'm almost sure it'll be in demand. But for account creation tokens, amassing as many of them as possible should be a continuous process, and taking advantage of the bear market to get more of them possibly cheaper seems like a great strategy (I'm talking about projects here, not about regular folks).

Got it! 💪
