Yesterday Hive Keychain got an upgrade on all supported browsers.
I thought I should overview it, after taking a look at the new features and using it for a day or so for current operations.
First of all, the new design is way cooler than the one for the previous version. :)
I also love there is no need to click OK after every submitted transaction, and that the popup is on timer and auto-closes after a few seconds.
@stoodkev mentions in his presentation of the new version, which are the new features:
Complete list of wallet transactions (filterable)
All Hive Engine operations (staking, delegations, etc.)
Governance tab
Dynamic RPC handling
All the settings can now be exported as a file
I might have not poked around Hive-Keychain much outside the regular operations lately, but I found another cool option I didn't know about. I'll tell you about it later. But for now, let's go over the new features.
Complete list of wallet transactions (filterable)
That's what you get from History:
and it looks like this:
When you expand filters, you have these options:
- search by sender and memo (using the search box); really nice!
- filter in or out operations
- filter operations by type
All Hive Engine operations (staking, delegations, etc.)
Your Hive-Engine wallet and operations are accessible from tokens:
I surprisingly have a fraction of LEO in this test account, enough to show you what is what in there.
- Token (LEO in this case) transaction history
- Send
- Extends/Reduces options - that's where you find the 'Stake', 'Unstake' and 'Delegate' buttons and info about balance, stake, delegations sent or received.
- Shows a list with all the HE tokens and you can choose which ones to display and which ones to hide, individually.
Governance tab
Now, we could already vote for witnesses from the previous version of Keychain. So, what's different?
First, you access it from here:
And you get to this popup:
I don't remember if there is anything changed when it comes to voting for witnesses or setting a proxy compared to the previous version (it doesn't look like it is), but now you can vote for proposals from the keychain too.
Practically you can do all governance-related ops from this page (both witness voting and proposal voting).
Dynamic RPC handling
I suppose this is related to this option in the Advanced Settings, which allows auto-switching of RPC nodes when checked.
I don't know if this setting is checked for you or if I did it previously, but if it isn't, I'd advise you to check it, unless you know what you are doing.
All the settings can now be exported as a file
You can do that using the Import/Export Settings option in the Advanced settings.
It is useful if you want to port the same settings to a fresh installation of Keychain on another browser/computer.
Note that this doesn't export the accounts you have added to Keychain.
For that you'll need to go to Settings -> Accounts -> Export. And then do the same except use Import instead on the other device/browser.
What else I discovered for the first time?
This may be around for a while, but I didn't check the settings in a long time.
In the Automated Tasks at the User Preferences level, you can auto-claim accounts, if you have enough RC. That's pretty cool.
I like the new Keychain. How about you? What has been your experience with it so far?
