Testing BeeSwap for a Full Week to See If I Want to Permanently Switch

in #hive-1679222 years ago

We, humans, are creatures of habit. Among many other things, that's why, once we get used to a user interface, we don't just switch to another that does almost the same thing.

Our brain doesn't want to do the work to learn the other UI when we already know something similar. So it needs some persuading. You need to find the benefits of switching to the other UI, if there are any.

Where am I going with this?

When the Hive-Engine sidechain first came out (actually the one from the legacy chain that has recently been shut down), there was only one interface: Hive-Engine.com. And we all used it if we wanted to use the sidechain.

As the sidechain became more popular and more projects came to being and grew, more interfaces were created to manage our holdings on H-E.

I don't remember in which order they were created, but I remember that after Hive-Engine.com I tried LeoDex for a while.

As LeoDex fell behind the other interfaces and with the introduction of NFTs and diesel pools on H-E, I moved to other UIs. Particularly to TribalDex, the interface created by the H-E team, which had diesel pool support.

I'm not sure if BeeSwap was around when I decided to switch to TribalDex or if it had diesel pool support at the time or the BXT token.

Anyway, I've been using primarily TribalDex since.

Recently, BeeSwap came out with version 3. There is a DHF proposal too, to support further development and maintenance. Although there are features still missing or disabled, I like what I see so far.

I've used v2 in the past on occasions, but not on a regular basis. I'd like to give it a try for a full week, exclusively, to see how it feels compared to TribalDex and if I find all I need for my routine operations easy to do on Beeswap. It has some special features or information you won't find on other UIs, so that is important when making the final decision. It is also very quick and it also shares fees with BXT stakeholders, but I don't currently hold a significant stake in BXT (slowly growing though).

Why would I want to switch from TribalDex to BeeSwap? Apart from what I said above, my first impression is it may be more applied to my own needs and the way I use H-E. But this week of usage should be revealing if that is true or not.

One thing BeeSwap V3 still doesn't have and that I use for tokens that don't have LPs is the market (order book style). That is what the proposal is for. Hopefully, @gerber will continue development even if the proposal doesn't pass, because I don't see any whale vote behind it yet.

If you are also interested in the BeeSwap interface, @forexbrokr wrote a more informed post as a user of BeeSwap and an investor in BXT. He is a fan!

If you'd like to add why do you like BeeSwap (and maybe what don't you like about it), please use the comments below. Thanks!

Cool, let us know what you think. I'll check it out too

So far so good. I like it better than TribalDex, other than the lack of order books, which I need for tokens that don't have LPs. But that market is on the roadmap.

I saw the changes to BeeSwap and I don't have too large of an investment in BXT. I moved some HBD over there to put into the BUSD/HBD pool there and staked the BXT that I got. I haven't used it much though and I like the book style too.

My first impressions are very good. The UX is much better than on TribalDex. You can only realize it once you start doing the operations you normally do. The only issue I see for now is that it doesn't currently have the order book market, but it is on the roadmap.

I may also try Beeswap very soon but I'm going to find it hard to switch
Hahaha

We often resist trying new things. It's in our nature.

You're welcome.

I haven't dived into it myself, but @tydynrain swears by it when it comes to finding and choosing diesel pools to add liquidity to. I hope to be choosing a few liquidity pools myself soon. Look forward to next week's review of your usage.

BeeSwap provided so much more information than Tribaldex! The only bit of information that Tribaldex has that I haven't seen in BeeSwap is it shows when particular assets are acruing fees or not. 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

He is right! I have used it for this purpose and it was great, even v2.

Hello @gadrian. I haven't used Beeswap or anything like it I don't think. What are LPs? Thanks. Barb 😊 !BBH !CTP

LP = liquidity pool or diesel pool as they are called on Hive Engine. They may seem a bit more complicated, but as you use them you start understanding them and they start becoming clear. Click the link for a longer explanation.

Thank you so much for the explanation @gadrian I'm getting better all the time at understanding 😀 !BBH !CTP

You are welcome, Barb. Keep asking questions when you don't understand things.

OK @gadrian and thank you 😊 !BBH !CTP

You are right, it takes a while for humans to leave something they are quite familiar with. I started with leodex, tribalex is only an option when my leodex interface isn't functioning properly. I have not tried BeeSwap before. It's great you are testing the waters to see if it will fit your needs.

So far I like it a lot. Apart from the lacking of the order book market, which is on the roadmap, it is much easier to use it than tribaldex.

Still using leo.dex in buying and swapping HE tokens. But in trading HIVE/HBD, I go to https://ecency.com/market.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Yeah, for HIVE/HBD, I generally use the HiveHub market from PeakD, but there are many options.

Excellent breakdown of BeeSwap, Adrian.

I have settled in at Tribaldex for probably around a year now.

I do, however, use the swap.Hive to Hive conversion in BeeSwap and it has always worked well for me.

It is also a nice place to see your Splinterlands assets.

With the loss of Blocktrades to US customers, I will probably get a bit more involved with BeeTrade.

Thanks for letting us know about the proposal, I will head on over and give it my small upvote.

I wasn't aware there is a BeeTrade. Is it a separate site or where can we find it?

Thanks for letting us know about the proposal, I will head on over and give it my small upvote.

I remember I saw you already voted for the proposal. And your vote it's not that small. :) Well, our votes are small compared to Hive whales, but otherwise, they are decent votes.

I'm sorry, Adrian.

I have had Blocktrades on the brain since they stopped servicing US accounts.
There is no BeeTrade, at least not that I know of.
Just a typo on my part.

Have you found a suitable replacement for Blocktrades?

I will probably send it from Coinbase to Hive-engine.

If you hear of a more streamlined way, please let me know.

I'm not sure. I'm having trouble understanding all the limitations you are subjected to in the US and anything else that may be coming.

Coinbase to H-E seems ok if you don't have the option to send to HIVE or HBD on the base layer. What are sending, USDT to SWAP.USDT?

I generally buy LTC on Coinbase and then send it to Hive Engine.

That was my second option. Just check which fees are lower, for transferring USDT (I believe Coinbase has support for it) or for LTC. EDIT: And which has more liquidity on H-E... SWAP.LTC or SWAP.USDT.

I use BeeSwap for liquidity pools, it's the only place I see the information I need that others didn't have. Otherwise, I use Tribaldex. For one function I use LeoDex and for a few others HE.

I voiced it, and now you might think I'm crazy)))

Farm LOLZ tokens when you Delegate Hive or Hive Tokens.
Click to delegate: 10 - 20 - 50 - 100 HP

Actually, I would use HE for the lease market, if it was used (RC delegations in particular). Maybe for the order book, if I switch to BeeSwap and it won't have them for a while, instead of TribalDex.

LeoDex is useful for two things, in my opinion:

  • to change the tribe tokens vote multipliers
  • to see the dollar value of the entire HE account (without diesel pools)

to change the tribe tokens vote multipliers

That's exactly what I use it for).

to see the dollar value of the entire HE account (without diesel pools)

I am used to using HE⬇️

I was using Tribaldex for working with diesel/liquidity pools when I first got into them, then I looked into BeeSwap. That's the main interface I use now because it provides so much more useful information, plus it's also quick and easy! I'm generally liking the changes that they made with the new version of BeeSwap. It's a very useful site indeed! 😁🙏💚✨🤙

Thanks for your feedback on BeeSwap! Yep, I have the same impression after only a short while of using it. And that's also the reason why I started using TribalDex in the first place.

Sure thing, you're most welcome! It's so curious to me that sites can differ so greatly in terms of what information that they provide. Happy weekend! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙
