Week on Hive

13 of 25 tracked posts made it to this week's issue of the "Week on Hive" roundup.

In the Spotlight

VSC Network Brings HBD Staking

I already wrote a full post yesterday about this so I will not write another piece as long about it. However, I do believe it is the announcement that deserves the spotlight of the week by far, for the new use cases to HBD and the derivative token sHBD, that will be introduced. Now all we need is the apps!

I'm not sure when we will have this back-end features of the VSC Network integrated into the major front ends of Hive. Before that time, it was great to mark the moment, but for the regular users on Hive it won't make much of a difference.

I'm looking forward for the time when they'll be usable! We may have to wait for a while, though...

Marketing / Awareness / Branding

Presentations and Shopping Opportunities at HiveCubaCon

This Sunday will be HiveCubaCon in Havana, Cuba. The announcement describes the schedule of presentations and also a list of local businesses that will be happy to accept HBD and offer discounts at/for the event. Using Distriator, the cashback can increase, as it is mentioned in their post too.

They will also test Keychain's new onboarding method at the event, the one I talked about a few times, about "onboarding your friends".

Blockchain Summit Latam Was This Week

I'm often confused by the similar, if not identical names such events have in Latin America. This time it was in Bogotá, Colombia, where Hive was a "hash" sponsor. I'm not sure what that means, but Hive had 4 representatives, of which 2 were also speakers and the other 2 held a workshop. One of them participated in a panel too. That, plus booth time, plus showing people they onboarded to Hive how to pay for their consumption with HBD and get a cashback with Distriator, seems like they were pretty busy. All the details in a very good recap from one of the people on the ground, @lunaticanto.

Hive Has a Streaming Platform Again

As VIMM is trying to gather support for a comeback and path to self-sustainability (big words for projects on Hive, but something many should thrive toward), a new live streaming service came to life (it may have been relaunched too, I'm not sure).

@sircork is behind the project, an early adopter of this blockchain (the legacy one), who took a break, and now is back.

HiveStreams.Live was introduced on Sunday, with a few iterations already (like adding Keychain as a login method, HIVE/HBD/Hive-Engine tokens for tipping).

Are you interested in a longer read? This is the manifesto for HiveStreams.Live.

Before the streaming platform, @sircork launched a witness in collaboration with @enginewitty (@PolleNation), and revived an old project of his, to check for dead followers.

Do You Want All Your Financial Transactions on Hive as a CSV File?

@pharesim got you covered. He created a script to do it and shared it. The catch? It's a Python script, not a web interface. You gotta do some work too... 😀

Custom Domains for Social Shops

I found a very good tutorial in case you are interested in having a custom domain for your social shop on Hive.

Inverview with @enforcer48 about... Downvotes

Downvotes are not a popular topic on Hive. Sometimes they may be needed, but maybe how policing has turned on Hive isn't the best outcome. This interview by @melbourneswest brings some insights from inside the phenomenon that most people on Hive avoid, although it may have its biases as well.

Proposal to Extend @clayboyn's Employment by the SPS.DAO by Another Year

His first year of employment by the Splinterlands DAO is approaching its end and he put out a new proposal to extend this period by another year. He mentions in the proposal the main accomplishments he saw to completion and other projects that are under way. Note that monthly salary payments require separate proposals to pass.

dCity Reworking Taxes

dCity is lowering the tax reduction offered by the Law Corporation building (after a vote!), to offer the chance of introducing another combined building with an effect in lowering taxes, Large University Campus, with a 2% reduction. Here are the details.

Holozing Overview

Things are coming together for Holozing. @acidyo put together a post with what appears to be screen captures with the info parts of the game, in a raw form (they are looking for a designer to make them look better). All of them we knew so far, I believe. There may be others they haven't disclosed yet. Here it is.

Week in the Crypto World

Justin Sun Involved in a New Scandal about the Custody of wBTC

JS needs congrats, lol! He moved on to higher scandals. Looks like he always says present when there's a scandal. The funny thing is, the CEO of BitGo, which was the sole custodian of wBTC before they decided to share custody with BiT Global, a company partially under Sun's control, says Sun doesn't have the private keys to the custodian assets, but having JS even around that project doesn't smell well. Maker DAO started to dump wBTC and doesn't accept it as collateral for its contracts, while AAVE said... we'll keep an eye on things, but did nothing. Guess what? Some whales are buying up AAVE. Venture to guess who might be behind this? 😂

I didn't know Hive had a streaming platform, so hearing that they were coming back was a bit surprising. With the numerous streaming platforms already, I hope they have a solid plan in place to be successful.

VIMM was around for a good while until they ran into some issues and couldn't afford to keep going. I don't know if HiveStreams.Live was around before, but I agree with you, a streaming platform needs a good plan to attract users and be sustainable.

What is HiveCubaCon all about?

It's a one-day Hive conference event/gathering in Havana, Cuba.

Thank you for the very kind and thoughtful words about HiveStreams.Live and me!

I can't wait to see everyone in the Streams!

It's great to see Hive continues to have a streaming platform associated with the ecosystem, after a short break. I'm not a streamer, but others are, and hopefully they'll try out HiveStreams.

I can’t wait for Holozing game to be fully launched
I’ve been anticipating since last year

Yep, I'm waiting for it too.

Thanks for the crypto roundup. I'm sure some of the features you've presented will be of immense help to hive users, namely the streaming platform and others yet to be introduced. I do hope Holozing is fully launched soon. It's been a long wait. Have a great weekend.

Thank you! I'd wait a little bit longer with the launch of Holozing. Knowing the rough prices of the packs (in dollars) and the price of HIVE, launching it now may not be a great idea.

I am happy to see the live streaming platform come back up. I am guessing HiveLive is different from VIMM so I wonder how things will work out for them. I hope that they at least learn from VIMM's issues if they are not related.

They are not related. VIMM has a proposal of their own to relaunch. A streaming platform is not easy to maintain due to the costs. I hope both of them have some good plans (VIMM shared theirs in the proposal), or they won't last.
