HiveStats is one of many useful apps created by LeoFinance. Its purpose, as the name suggests, is to make it easy to views Hive account stats. I would highly recommend all Hive participants to include this tool in their toolbox. LeoFinance has recently made some updates to the app to improve its performance and added new features. Let me explain how this app can improve your Hiving activities.
The main reason I like using this app is the simplicity in design and use, yet powerful features that make getting needed data most efficiently. Hive is an immutable and open blockchain with all the data available for everybody. Not everybody has the proper skills to obtain simple, yet much needed data from blockchain. Thanks to tools like HiveStats, we don't need to become programmers. Simplicity of this app starts with its name. HiveStats is easy to remember, and anytime we need this tool we simply visit hivestats.io.
The landing page only has the HiveStats logo, and a search input field that asks for your Hive account name. Once account is typed in, and search button clicked, the main page with all the Hive stats for the account is launched. Super fast. Let's explore this page section by section.
The top section shows links to other LeoFinance apps like CubFinance, LeoDex, LeoPedia. The top section also includes a link to a FAQ page. However, this FAQ page is about LeoFinance and not about HiveStats. Maybe this FAQ page should be updated with information about HiveStats or removed. The top section also includes a login/logout. For the most part there is no need to login to a Hive account to use HiveStats. If we choose to perform some Hive actions, we can do so by signing in. It uses Hive Keychain credentials for signing in.
The next section is a new addition, it displays latests featured posts on LeoFinance. Currently, it is displaying my last post as #1 featured post on LeoFinance. Impressive! That alone makes this feature a great addition. :)
Next is the main section, and it is really cool. In one glance we can see all we need about our account stats. First thing we look at is the voting power. It shows the percentage of the current voting power, how many hours it will take for the voting power to fully replenish. It is also shows how much the current upvote would be worth in USD.
If you really want to see something cool, start clicking on the voting power circle. When you click, animation will start showing as voting power decreases or increases and the values change. This can help us understand how voting power levels changes the value of the upvotes.
If I were to suggest any changes/improvements here, it would be to add resource credits. Resource credits data is actually provided in the next section. But it would cool to have a similar display like voting power for RC as well.
The main section, also has rewards data for the entire week. It shows curation, author, witness rewards in HP, but also the total in USD value. If you were curious how much witnesses earn for producing blocks, check their HiveStats and look at the witness rewards. For most of us who are not block producers, witness rewards will alway be zero.
Then we see another cool data - curation APR. I think 10% curation APR is decent and average. What I would like to see is, some kind of comparison to the overall curation APR on Hive. Some more data that can give more insights to improve individual curation activities. It is awesome to have this calculated for us and included in our Hive stats.
Next to the weekly stats is the Hive account profile: avatar, name, rep, location, about, and a link. These will be different for all accounts. But great to have all this data in one place along with other HiveStats. Cool design.
These features alone are enough for me to have HiveStats website open all the time on a separate screen and easily accessible. But HiveStats has more stats. There are two more sections. One has the stats and analytics of the Hive account related to the native coins and rewards. Another section displays stats for Hive Engine tokens. Pretty cool. Let's take a look.
As you can see in the image above, Hive Analytics displays charts of the account growth and rewards for either last 7 days or 30 days. It would be nice to have options for longer periods of time like last 3 months, 6 months, or a year. It is still useful as is. Stats sub-section shows resource credit data, number or followers and followings, and the number of all posts made by the account. The wallet sub-section will show all assets in native coins: HP, Hive, HBD, Savings, and the total USD value of the account.
This sub-section also has live price feed for Hive, HBD, Leo, and Cub. If you are also invested in Leo and Cub, you will find this sub-section very useful to see the all the prices in one place. Looks like Cub is more expensive than Leo.
The last sub-section is the Rewards, that shows curation, author, witness rewards in HO and total USD value for the last 7 or 30 days. As I already suggested, it would nice to have this kind of data for longer timeframes like few months and a year.
Hive economy is bigger than its native coins and rewards. Layer 2 apps, coins, and rewards make Hive even more interesting. That's why we would want to see the stats for our Hive Engine tokens and rewards too. This data is displayed in the last section - Hive Engine.
This section has three sub-sections: Wallet, Rewards, and Operations. The wallet sub-section displays all the hive-engine tokens the account has. It shows the balance, staked amount, pending undelegations, pending unstake, and the USD value of the total.
If/when we sign in using Hive Keychain we can send tokens or trade in LeoDex. Similarly we can perform transfers in our Hive wallets too.
Rewards and Operations sub-sections in Hive Engine section look like need some more work. Rewards sub-section also shows some all-time values and day by day values are all zero. It would be cool to see some improvements here so we can see more meaningful rewards data for various tokens, tribes, and games.
Operations sub-section doesn't seem to be operational. I tried various accounts, and not much is displayed. Not sure if it is because there is no data, or because this sub-section is still being developed. There is demand to see hive-engine operations.
One last thing I would like to recommend is to add another input box to change accounts. Currently, to change account name to see Hive stats for different accounts I end up clicking the HiveStats logo to go back to the landing page and change the account name there. If I am doing it wrong, please let me know.
Try HiveStats yourself. Add it to your toolbox. Hive like a Pro!
