We live in an interesting world. We spend so much effort, time, and energy earning money, making a living, accumulating wealth, and seeking treasures. All while we already possess the true treasures in a form of our five senses like eyesight, hearing, touch and smell. Nobody would want to trade any of these abilities for material things, for no amount of wealth. They are priceless. Imagine a world where humans lose any of these faculties. It is hard to imagine such world. But creators of Apple TV+ series, SEE did.
SEE is a tv show available to watch on Apple TV+. It portrays a post-apocalyptic world, where humans lost their eyesight due to a virus. Surprisingly, humans were able to survive without a faculty to see the world they live in. They have developed tribe like societies with various clans and empires. They have been living like this for a long time. They have developed new ways of communicating, traveling, building houses, forming laws, and living as a society.
For some unknown changes or reasons, eyesight starts returning, and few babies are born with an eyesight. Seeing is seen as curse and those with eyesight are considered witches and there is a special kind of soldiers called witch-hunters that hunt down those with eyesight to kill them.
The story is great. Acting is even better. It must very difficult to act as someone who can't see. Actors do a great job pulling it off. The main character in the series is Baba Voss is played by Jason Momoa, and he does an incredible job. Baba Voss is a leader of a tribe of ordinary people who are not part of any clans or empires. They mind their own business and live a happy live.
Baba Voss has a wife, whom he rescued. She was pregnant and was running away from something, when she was rescued by Baba Voss. She gives a birth to twins, a boy and a girl. Both of the are born with an eyesight. Baba raises these kids as his own. They grow up and the journey begins. Both Baba Voss and his wife Maghra have very interesting history before starting a life together or even before joining the tribe. Their stories are unique and revealed as the story develops.
It also great to watch their children, Haniwa and Kofun grow up in a tribe with an ability to see the world while nobody else in their lives can. All of these actors do great job playing these actors. It is really impressive. It keeps the viewers wondering how would a person behave in such environment.
While children can see, this ability doesn't give them any advantage over others. In fact, they need to learn how to not see, in order to gain advantage over their enemies. Although people don't have eyesight their other senses like hearing and smelling became more powerful. Some can hear sounds from very far away. They can differentiate things by smelling.
For those who like actions, the show has many action scenes. Not only there are action scenes, there are battles and wars. Isn't it interesting, even in such conditions people don't stop fighting. Of course this is a fiction, and perhaps having battles between good and evil makes tv shows more interesting.
There are two seasons of SEE available right now. I believe season 3 filming has been completed, but is not available for streaming yet. My understanding is season 3 will become available for streaming sometime in fall 2022.
Not many have Apple TV+ subscription. It doesn't have a lot of movies and shows available to watch. But they do have really good ones. The subscription is not too expensive either. It only costs $4.99 a month and they even offer free trial for one week. If you were to subscribe just to watch SEE, it would be worth the money spent. The show is entertaining, great performance, high quality, and great story.
It is definitely an awesome tv show to See!
