Hello Hive! This morning, we had a power outage at home. As a result, I couldn’t work on my professional projects because I lost my internet connection. I do have mobile data on my phone, but it wasn’t enough to handle what I needed to do.
So, I decided to be patient. Last weekend, on Reddit, I came across a web design concept that really inspired me: Neo Brutalism.

I loved this design approach for several reasons:
- Authenticity and anti-mainstream vibes. As someone who enjoys going against the grain (and I think many of us here share this mindset), I appreciate not always following trends.
- Impactful style. What stands out about this type of design is that it immediately catches your eye. Today, more than ever, a design that grabs attention and breaks conventions is a real asset.
So, I decided to take advantage of this power outage to create something that would motivate me to keep publishing on Hive. And I wanted to share it here because it felt right.
Retiring at 68? Not Possible!
I’m still very far from retirement. In total, I have 42 years left before I can retire. That’s a long time, and I’d love to be able to do it sooner.
I really enjoy Hive for its social aspect and authenticity, but also for the earning potential. For the past few months, I’ve also been considering it as a way to prepare for my retirement.
In fact, if I don’t withdraw my funds, I can rely on my future posts and the accumulated interest to grow my capital. I estimate that with $40,000 in annual interest, one can live comfortably. Of course, this depends on where and how you live, so it’s a very personal figure.
So, I had fun creating a tool that allows you to input:
- Your HP and HBD,
- The amount in dollars you think you can earn per week,
- The percentage of those earnings you allocate to HP and HBD (50% by default).
With my current posting rhythm, I could live off my interest in 32 years. And if I don’t withdraw anything for 42 years (the duration of the simulation), I’d be a millionaire in HP and HBD in 41 years and 6 months 🚀
If I were to rely solely on the French government for my retirement, I’d be far below these numbers. So, for me, this is a real escape plan.
There are so many parameters missing to make this figure realistic. In fact, it never will be. But my goal was primarily to have fun while waiting for the power to come back. Now that it’s back, I can get back to work.

- Dynamically adding the real price of HBD and Hive,
- Allowing users to input a Hive account so the tool can automatically fetch the associated HP and HBD amounts.

Bonjour Hive ! Ce matin, il y a eu une coupure d'électricité chez nous. Je ne pouvais donc pas travailler sur mes projets professionnels, car je n'avais plus Internet. J'ai bien les données mobiles de mon téléphone, mais elles ne suffisaient pas pour faire ce que j'avais à faire.

J'ai adoré cette manière de concevoir pour plusieurs raison :
- L'authenticité et l’anti-mainstream. Moi qui aime faire les choses à contre-courant (et je pense que nous sommes plusieurs ici à partager cette vision), j’apprécie de ne pas forcément suivre les tendances.
- Un style impactant. Ce qui frappe avec ce type de design, c'est qu'il se remarque immédiatement. Aujourd'hui, plus que jamais, un design qui capte l’attention et casse les codes est un véritable atout.
J'ai donc voulu profiter de cette panne d'électricité pour construire quelque chose qui me motiverait à continuer de publier sur Hive. Et j'ai souhaité le partager ici, ça faisait sens.
Ma retraite à 68 ans ? Pas possible !
Je suis encore très loin de la retraite. En tout et pour tout, il me reste 42 ans avant de pouvoir me retirer. C'est énorme, et j'aimerais pouvoir le faire plus tôt.
J'aime beaucoup Hive pour son aspect social et son authenticité, mais aussi pour la rémunération. Depuis quelques mois, je le considère également comme un moyen de préparer ma retraite.
En effet, si je ne retire pas mes fonds, je peux compter sur mes prochaines publications ainsi que sur les intérêts cumulés pour faire croître mon capital. J'estime qu'avec 40 000 $ d'intérêts par an, on peut vivre convenablement. Bien sûr, ça dépend du lieu de vie et du rythme de vie de chacun, c'est donc une donnée très personnelle.
Je me suis donc amusé à créer un outil qui permet d'entrer :
- vos HP et HBD,
- le montant en dollars que vous pensez gagner par semaine,
- sur ces gains, le pourcentage que vous allouez en HP et HBD (50 % par défaut).
Avec mon rythme de publication, je pourrais vivre de mes intérêts dans 32 ans. Et si je ne retire rien pendant 42 ans (la durée de la simulation), je serais millionnaire en HP et HBD dans 41 ans et 6 mois 🚀
Si je compte uniquement sur l'Etat Français pour préparer ma retraite, je serais bien en dessous de ces chiffres. C'est donc pour moi un véritable échappatoire.
Il manque tellement de paramètres pour rendre ce chiffre réaliste. D’ailleurs, il ne le sera jamais. Mais mon objectif était avant tout de m’amuser en attendant que l’électricité revienne. Maintenant qu’elle est de retour, je vais pouvoir me remettre au travail.

J’aimerais l’améliorer à l’avenir, donc n’hésitez pas à me donner vos idées dans les commentaires ! J’ai déjà pensé à :
- Ajouter dynamiquement le vrai prix du HBD et de Hive,
- Permettre de renseigner un compte Hive pour que l’outil récupère automatiquement le nombre de HP et HBD associés.
