I lived for a long time in an apartment building room, owned by my parents. The building is located almost at an important intersection. The main street is two ways with a river cutting in the middle and the other street cutting is only one way. It is forbidden to make a U-turn on the main street at that intersection to switch ways on the main street. However, during my life living there, I witnessed all the time people doing it, once in a while there was a police officer hidden just taking notes of the plates doing that, and one time I saw a driver noticing it, stopping by it, and shaking hands with the officer after a while. Probably he was bribed.
I never did that U-turn while I could drive, but I know many people who did that, including my father, who I fought with no success about this problem since I was underaged with no driving skills. The title of this post I stole from a conversation with a friend in a Discord server. He directed to me of course, I am a witness, not one of the biggest ones but I am. It is interesting this name that the blockchain adapted differently from the regular "validator" naming. But it makes sense. Like a witness in a contract, Hive witnesses are signing every block that corresponds to any type of transaction in our blockchain. Posts, comments, votes, payments, and so on. We are helping the blockchain to move on, at least in the technical part.
There is another meaning for Hive witness which probably most of us in the blockchain are, which is more powerful in my point of view. For that, we don't need fancy computers to run fancy scripts. The only thing that matters, in this case, is Hive stake, or HP. For the last few months, I have been diving a lot into that. Hive is a world, which expands through discord servers. I have never been in a crypto project with so many different discord servers. On these servers, I met people with different amounts of stakes. People considered Hive whales to be red fishes.
Lately I have been a Hive witness seeing many debates about what is right or wrong in the blockchain. Polemic topics, made me think a lot about the future of the blockchain, which like most altcoins I think is questionable at this moment. I learned a lot from a person who until now I felt was just a grumpy person, but I see the reasons for that person spitting negativism about the blockchain.
Hive policing
As any society we police each other, some decide to act by themselves when they have power, while others use a resource that is more accessible, or at least we think that it is sometimes: The Hive Watchers. Like any centralized movement in real life, Hive Watchers looks like to triage what fights they want to face. I don't want to create a long comment thread about giveaways and Hive Watchers. But it seems odd this recent approach of facing Giveaways posts right now. It was interesting to see all giveaway posters going to their server in the same range of time. Giveaway posts were never hidden, I saw some big stakeholders fighting them once in a while, but Hive Watchers never cared. While happening there some people pointed out an old user that explores hive every day. This user is getting probably dozens of dollars every day with selfvotes for at least 5 years. No one cared and if the HP size of this user was the size of a 2-year-old user or less. Only one user cared, not the Hive Watchers and made some fighting against it. All of this made me think about what are the standards, and what can be considered abuse. Is the guy posting and getting 1$ daily just because have a copy-and-paste giveaway? or people that are getting lots of Hive daily in a very weird way and dumping Hive.
DHF proposals
Many proposals are polemic lately, but all of these polemic proposals have something in common. They don't bring confidence in how and when the money asked will be used. So you start seeing people complaining about these proposals are asking a lot of money and they will dump hive. To be frank, it is hard to know but the fear is real when you see these "amateur proposals", it looks like people are treating hive as a father that doesn't care where the money will go. Why do you need thousands of dollars? to create/expand a game? to improve a hive utility? So how this money will be spent? why not 100$? Why do you need this amount of money? The proposal isn't clear and even the authors when explaining don't bring confidence that they know. You can ask for a certain amount of money not knowing how much you really need. It lacks planning. Many of these proposals will be accepted if big stakeholders support this project since the beginning, sometimes it looks like some big stakeholders don't care about their own money.
Are we all hive farmers?
I saw last week a debate on one server. A user exposes a project one of the benefits is that the holders could receive votes. The person just commented that it was a way to buy votes. But another user brought to attention that this person bringing this debate was also a participant in a new project and one perk of the project was also bringing voting power to the investors. Then the discussion became more detailed about automated votes versus manual votes. Another different user in the server always brings the attention that even delegating your HP to a curation program receiving dividends from that can be considered as selling votes. For this user staking hive in your account and using all of them is the only correct way. So if we don't do that, maybe we are all farmers in some way, but maybe some ways can hurt the ethics more compared to others It is pretty challenging to decide where the line of totally wrong is going, it varies perhaps a bit person to person.
I posted before about CoinApp, and I still use it, I let the app on while I am driving, and when I get 10k points I exchange XYO tokens, do I hold them? No. This token is based on Ethereum and it doesn't have any other utilities. I don't see a future for the token so I dump it to try to get a couple of dollars to reinvest in something that for me could have more future, like Hive. At the hive, we are earning a hive not only by staking the coin. Posting is the main income source for sure, but there are other ways. How can we bring new users to this blockchain if we don't believe in it? I am not saying that we should stake all of posting rewards etc. But at least keeping the part that we get in HP? Investing in HP we are keeping the system alive. Desnecessary expenses in projects that don't know their costs are crazy. What types of abuse really matter for the blockchain in interfering somehow in our dynamics? We are all witnesses of what is going on to hive, it is our choice to do something or just stay shut, in a mechanical way just posting and pretending that we didn't see anything.

Morei muito tempo em um prédio de apartamentos, de propriedade dos meus pais. O edifício está localizado quase em um cruzamento importante. A rua principal é de mão dupla com um rio cortando no meio e a outra rua cortando é de mão única. É proibido fazer meia-volta na rua principal naquele cruzamento para mudar de direção na rua principal. Porém, durante minha vida morando lá, eu presenciei o tempo todo gente fazendo isso, de vez em quando tinha um policial escondido só anotando as placas fazendo isso, e uma vez eu vi um motorista percebendo, parando ali, e apertando a mão do oficial depois de um tempo. Provavelmente ele foi subornado.
Nunca fiz aquela inversão de marcha enquanto podia dirigir, mas conheço muitas pessoas que fizeram isso, inclusive meu pai, com quem lutei sem sucesso por causa desse problema, pois era menor de idade e não tinha habilidades para dirigir. O título deste post eu roubei de uma conversa com um amigo em um servidor do Discord. Ele me dirigiu, claro, sou uma testemunha, não uma das maiores, mas sou. É interessante esse nome que o blockchain se adaptou de forma diferente da nomenclatura normal do “validador”. Mas faz sentido. Como uma testemunha em um contrato, as testemunhas do Hive assinam cada bloco que corresponde a qualquer tipo de transação em nosso blockchain. Postagens, comentários, votos, pagamentos e assim por diante. Estamos ajudando o blockchain a seguir em frente, pelo menos na parte técnica.
Há outro significado para testemunha Hive que provavelmente a maioria de nós no blockchain tem, que é mais poderoso no meu ponto de vista. Para isso, não precisamos de computadores sofisticados para executar scripts sofisticados. A única coisa que importa, neste caso, é a aposta Hive, ou HP. Nos últimos meses, tenho mergulhado muito nisso. Hive é um mundo que se expande através de servidores discord. Nunca estive em um projeto criptográfico com tantos servidores discord diferentes. Nesses servidores, conheci pessoas com diferentes valores de stakes. As pessoas consideravam as baleias Hive peixes vermelhos.
Ultimamente tenho sido uma testemunha do Hive vendo muitos debates sobre o que é certo ou errado no blockchain. Temas polêmicos, me fizeram pensar muito sobre o futuro do blockchain, que como a maioria das altcoins acho questionável neste momento. Aprendi muito com uma pessoa que até agora eu considerava apenas uma pessoa mal-humorada, mas vejo os motivos dessa pessoa cuspir negativismo sobre o blockchain.
Policia da Hive
Como qualquer sociedade em que policiamos uns aos outros, alguns decidem agir por si próprios quando têm poder, enquanto outros usam um recurso que é mais acessível, ou pelo menos pensamos que às vezes é: Os Hive Watchers. Como qualquer movimento centralizado na vida real, os Hive Watchers procuram fazer a triagem das lutas que desejam enfrentar. Não quero criar um longo tópico de comentários sobre brindes e Hive Watchers. Mas parece estranho esta abordagem recente de enfrentar as postagens de Giveaways agora. Foi interessante ver todos os postadores de brindes indo para seus servidores no mesmo intervalo de tempo. As postagens de brindes nunca eram ocultadas, eu via alguns grandes interessados lutando contra eles de vez em quando, mas os Hive Watchers nunca se importaram. Enquanto acontecia lá, algumas pessoas apontaram um usuário antigo que explora o hive todos os dias. Este usuário está recebendo provavelmente dezenas de dólares todos os dias com votos próprios por pelo menos 5 anos. Ninguém se importava se o tamanho da HP desse usuário era do tamanho de um usuário de 2 anos de idade ou menos. Apenas um usuário se importou, não os Hive Watchers, e lutou contra ele. Tudo isso me fez pensar sobre quais são os padrões e o que pode ser considerado abuso. O cara está postando e ganhando 1$ por dia só porque tem um sorteio de copiar e colar? ou pessoas que estão recebendo muito Hive diariamente de uma forma muito estranha e descartando o Hive.
Propostas de DHF
Muitas propostas têm sido polêmicas ultimamente, mas todas essas propostas polêmicas têm algo em comum. Eles não trazem confiança sobre como e quando o dinheiro pedido será usado. Então você começa a ver pessoas reclamando dessas propostas, estão pedindo muito dinheiro e vão despejar a Hive. Para ser franco, é difícil saber, mas o medo é real quando você vê essas “propostas amadoras”, parece que as pessoas estão tratando a Hivecomo um pai que não se importa para onde vai o dinheiro. Por que você precisa de milhares de dólares? criar/expandir um jogo? melhorar um utilitário de Hive? Então, como esse dinheiro será gasto? por que não 100$? Por que você precisa dessa quantia de dinheiro? A proposta não é clara e mesmo os autores ao explicar não transmitem confiança de que sabem. Você pode pedir uma certa quantia de dinheiro sem saber de quanto realmente precisa. Falta planejamento. Muitas destas propostas serão aceites se os grandes intervenientes apoiarem este projecto desde o início, por vezes parece que alguns grandes intervenientes não se importam com o seu próprio dinheiro.
Somos todos farmers de Hive?
Vi na semana passada um debate em um servidor. Um usuário expõe um projeto e um dos benefícios é que os titulares poderão receber votos. A pessoa apenas comentou que era uma forma de comprar votos. Mas outro usuário chamou a atenção para o fato de que essa pessoa que trouxe esse debate também participava de um novo projeto e uma vantagem do projeto também era trazer poder de voto aos investidores. Depois a discussão tornou-se mais detalhada sobre votos automatizados versus votos manuais. Outro usuário diferente no servidor sempre chama a atenção que mesmo delegar seu HP a um programa de curadoria recebendo dividendos disso pode ser considerado como venda de votos. Para este usuário, apostar no Hive em sua conta e usar todos eles é a única maneira correta. Portanto, se não fizermos isso, talvez sejamos todos farmers de alguma forma, mas talvez haja formas que possam prejudicar mais a ética do que outras. É bastante desafiador decidir para onde vai a linha do totalmente errado em alguns momentos que varia pessoalmente.
Já postei sobre o CoinApp e ainda uso, deixo o aplicativo ligado enquanto dirijo e quando ganho 10k pontos troco tokens XYO, devo mantê-los? Não. Este token é baseado em Ethereum e não possui nenhuma outra utilidade. Não vejo futuro para o token, então deixo-o cair para tentar conseguir alguns dólares para reinvestir em algo que para mim poderia ter mais futuro, como o Hive. Na Hive, não estamos ganhando uma Hive apenas apostando a moeda. Postar é a principal fonte de renda com certeza, mas existem outras formas. Como podemos trazer novos usuários para este blockchain se não acreditamos nele? Não estou dizendo que devemos apostar todas as recompensas de postagem, etc. Mas pelo menos manter a parte que ganhamos na HP? Investindo na HP estamos mantendo o sistema vivo. Despesas desnecessárias em projetos que não conhecem seus custos são uma loucura. Que tipos de abuso realmente importam para o blockchain interferir de alguma forma em nossa dinâmica? Todos somos testemunhas do que se passa na Hive, a escolha é nossa fazer alguma coisa ou apenas ficar calados, de forma mecânica apenas postando e fingindo que não vimos nada.
