It was erected during the time of Raja Rai Singh, the sixth monarch of Bikaner, who ruled from 1571 to 1611 AD, and is one of the few significant forts in Rajasthan that is not situated on a hilltop. In 1594, the building was finished. Despite many efforts to seize the fort, it was never captured, with the exception of a one-day occupancy by Kamran Mirza, the Mughal Emperor Babur's second son. The Mughals were beaten by the Rathors in this fight. The fort, which spans 5.28 hectares and features a variety of architectural styles, comprises multiple palaces, temples, and pavilions.
