Without FIAT, how do you invest?
Just be consistent and persistent. It does build up over time.
Through my earnings on HIVE. I have been able to pay for my Splintermate account with 2 slots each month and pick up a couple of cards every so often. In the last month I have gotten much closer to completing my common Gold Foil Chaos Legion deck. Just this week, I have collected another two or three cards and taken a summoner to 3rd level. All at no further cost in FIAT. So whilst this is a slow long term play, I enjoy knowing I am building towards a bigger goal. Completing these Battle or Social Media Challenges has been my biggest source of income within HIVE. Other ways I make funds through HIVE;
Splintermate -
This is my biggest monthly expense at $2 a month in DEC/ SPS.
As it stands, I have two accounts running with Splintermate. holdeck & holdeck2. Both accounts make SPS. The account holdeck2 competes in Silver and works upto Silver 1 consistently. The holdeck account is a low level Bronze account which I am developing into a Bronze 1 account for now.
The daily rewards are varied but I have pulled a Djinn Biljka from daily rewards along with a Chaos pack with holdeck2. The holdeck account has not done as well but the main arsenal available to it was rented out. I am still finding the balance with this account between rental income and playing income. Best thing about Splintermate, is this is pretty passive.

While the daily reward payouts are not always consistently awesome, it is possible to get great rewards and on some occasions these rewards do appear for you. The higher the leagues the better the rewards. You will potentially earn more SPS per battle, better daily reward chest loot percentages and lastly, better overall season rewards. I am keeping every asset I can get my hands on so far with regards to cards but some people sell them for profit etc.
The biggest earning factor for me is in the SPS earned through guild brawls. Both accounts are members of a guild and while you do contribute according to the rules of the guild you are a member of, you gain SPS rewards based on team and personal performance in the leaderboard of each brawl.
My next step is to undertake some tournaments as this is where I can earn additional SPS for minimal DEC investment. I am excited to see where I can go with this option.
Below is my collection of Gold Foil Common cards purchased through HIVE earnings.
Splex -
Rents out the cards of your choice and relists them periodically to gain the best income possible. I have several cards which I hold purely for rentals. Xenith Archers always seem to do pretty well for me. Just as recently as this week, I was making around 80-95 DEC a day passively. Sure that is not a great deal in terms of $ but that is enough to buy a a Radiated Brute in Gold Foil.
Ecency -
Using Ecency to interact with posts has been great for my account. Over the last few blog posts and Challenges in the Splinterlands community, I have been able to boost my upvotes using the points I have accrued through Ecency. The short version, I post using PeakD because it is what I am most comfortable with. I interact, reply, upvote, reblog etc through Ecency. After 150 points you can link in a quality post for Ecency to consider upvoting. They only upvote quality and they refund the points if it is unsuccessful.
Giveaways/ Competitions -
I enter numerous giveaways a week. Some of these I have won a card, some tokens, delegations of tokens or even packs. This is where I build up most of my Ecency points.
Top Tips to building on HIVE when you have no FIAT funds
Create quality content over quantity.
You won't be able to post 4 times a day so make every blog count. Use high quality images
Blog about your passion.
If you are passionate about a topic you are more likely to be consistent and create something of value to the community. I know this from experience.
Stake the tokens
Stake those earnings in your communities and get voting to share that love around.
Make your goals achievable and bitesized!
Check in against that goal every time you take a small step. Remind yourself where you started and how far you have come on the journey. Right now I am looking to acquire a token and I continuously chip away at it. Little and often takes time but it does work. So keep it manageable.
