The crypto adoption in Argentina continues to grow amid the rising hyperinflation. According to a survey, 17% people in Argentina bought crypto late year (over 50% of them chose stablecoins).

The data was published in a survey conducted by Americas Market Intelligence in Latin American countries and reported by memo.

The researcher spoke to 2,400 smartphone users back in November 2022 and 17% of people said they bought crypto (for investment or savings) in the last 12 months.

Back in November 2021, the same researcher conducted the survey and 12% respondents said they had bought crypto. This 5% rise could be due to inflation.

53% of Argentines stated they had bought USD Pegged Stablecoins in the last year while 46% stated they have done so in protecting their savings against inflation.

A prominent crypto pay facilitator last week shared that more Argentineans than ever are opting to work for companies that pay them in cryptocurrency instead of fiat.

Other countries in the region also reported increased adoption. 14% Columbians and Brazilians said they had switched to cryptocurrency.

While that number was lower among Mexicans, Chileans and Peruvians with below 10% of the respondents in these countries saying that they had bought crypto.

I think, compared to USA, what helps Latin American countries is that the populations are younger, on average. In the long-term, this should help with adoption.
