The current state of social media is horrible and it looks like it's worsening constantly.
It was designed to make communication possible but some of these social media platforms have become a nightmare for some of the people.
Users have turned against these platforms because of privacy violations, censorship, theft of data with poor security standards.
And this is not only about Facebook. Other platforms also have exploited users in different ways.
The reason behind the current situation is that these modern day communication platforms have evolved into profit driven companies. They have become more like predators rather than serving their purpose.
User's data have been traded for millions and billions of dollars behind the doors.
Blockchain Technology as an Alternative
Thanks to blockchain technology working on new emerging technologies as alternatives. Blockchain based decentralized messaging apps can solve this problem being faced in the present most of the social media platforms.
It's like a new paradigm in online communications is awaiting users.
No doubt that social media has revolutionized the internet industry enabling simple and real time communications but in the recent years they have become predators exploiting users in different ways. And Facebook which is now Meta has been in the news for such type of things (compromising user's data).
Data security also is another problem which most of these social medias lag behind. Like take for example WhatsApp's data backup to the cloud, it's end to end encryption mechanism breaks. And hacks are common with these apps.
Now that we have Web3 (which guarantees privacy and data security for the users), still pretty much new but yeah a lot of work has to be done for mass adoption.
Hive as a Web3 social media platform if evolves and go mainstream, it has the potential in breaking the grounds in the space of social medias but for that to achieve, Hive still needs to put a really hard and consistent work.
