A recent tweet by the President of El Salvador about a meeting where 32 central banks and 12 financial authorities from 44 countries is going to happen and among other things, Bitcoin also is going to be discussed.
El Salvador back in 2021, made an announcement to make Bitcoin a legal tender and developing countries are assumed to be having a close look at it. If the claim made by President Bukele were true, we may then see representatives of these countries getting a chance to look at Bitcoin and how it is been used by El Salvador.
Little is known about the meeting, and it looks like the news have been kept under scarf as the country's press also seems like unaware of the meeting. President Bukele has shared it in his tweet and that is probably how the people get to know about the meeting.
Some news reported that the countries that are on Bukele's list include Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Armenia, Latin America etc.
It would be interesting to see how International Monetary Fund responds to this meeting as the meeting does involve developing nations and probably many of them have been receiving loans from IMF.
This is one dilemma of the developing countries that the decisions they make related to foreign affairs do come under the radar of institutions like IMF etc.
Bitcoin Beach with a sarcastic post on Twitter tagging @IMFNews, claimed that the event is "Probably Nothing". Don't know from where Bitcoin Beach got the wind of the meeting, as they already had tweeted about it on May, 13.
What to expect from the meeting?
I don't really know, but at least this may create some buzz in the crypto industry.
Will wait and see what the outcome of the meeting is.
