Prior to learning how Hive works, all I thought was that it is a blogging interface where we post and get rewarded with crypto. Well it is, except that when we want to have an influence around here, we gotta build. And that entails work and consistency.
And when I say work, I don't mean it lightly, it needs real work. That doesn't mean however that we bury our heads to it and forget about any other things. That wouldn't be fun and it will just burn us out. So how is work done to grow in Hive? Read on please for those who are new (I reckon if you have been around Hive for sometime, you would know these already, or maybe not)...
Stake Hive (Hive Power)
This is what they call "Powering Up" or "Hive Power" or "Power Up" and in so doing, you will have the following benefits around the Hive blockchain:
You will have more Resource Credits (RC) to transact, posts and engage in Hive. Doing more activities will give you higher chance to get noticed, and in turn, your reputation also increases.
You will have larger voting power which consequently means your curation rewards will also be higher.
Your say will have some weight when you vote for the projects and witnesses you support.
Your Hive Power earns "interest" at an approximate APR of 2.94% (current rate)
You can stake HIVE anytime you want or participate in the Hive Power Up Day initiative which is done every first of each month (UTC time). You will then get a PUD badge and a chance to win any of the sponsored prizes and delegation too. I have been doing this for 6 straight months since 1st of January and it's been beneficial to me so far.
Or there's also the Hive Power Up Month (HPUM) where one can stake at least 1 HIVE daily for the whole month. Or write an article everyday of the month and setting your payout to 100% Power Up. So while you build your account in terms of Hive Power, you will also get the PUM badge and a chance to win some HP delegation from HiveBuzz. Been doing this too since January and my account is growing well. For the whole month of May, I was able to manually stake a total of 335 HIVE.
To give you an overview of how "growth" happens in Hive Power, here's a table for my power up history since 1st January 2022.
Today, I manually staked 140HIVE. I dreamt to have 3k HP at the end of this year but it turned out, this was achieved today (3138HP), yay! Hence, a new number (goal) is born. 5k HP? Yes, that's about right. So the grind continues.
Stake LEO (LeoPower)
For those who are not aware, there is so-called LeoPower in the bustling LeoFinance ecosystem and it works quite similar with Hive Power. LEO is a rewards token in the den in addition to HIVE and HBD and other Hive-Engine tokens. And why power up or stake LEO?
- The more LeoPower one has, the more influence he has in the den.
- More curation rewards (LEO).
- As the LeoFinance team has on-going developments (LeoLegends, ProjectBlank etc), having LeoPower has advantages too.
I was late in learning about LEO so I'm just starting to build my LeoPower (LP). Today, I added 208 LEO to my stakes making it to 1799. I have a goal to have at least 5k LeoPower at the end of this year so I will keep stacking up LEO from here on.
Here's how my LeoPower has grown in a little over two months.
Date | LeoPower |
---|---|
27-Mar-22 | 0 |
01-May-22 | 673 |
28-May-22 | 1591 |
01-Jun-22 | 1799 |
If you are just starting like me, apart from curating and delegating your LeoPower, there are a variety of ways to earn LEO which can really help jumpstart one's progress or growth in the den.
And when you made up your mind to grow along with others in this blockchain, the above are two of the ways to make it happen. Of course, coupled with creating quality contents and engagements around the Hive community.
Cheers and Happy Power Up Day, folks!
