If you are willing to stay paycheck to paycheck for a few years, the bear market means nothing to you. You buy because you did your own research, you hold, you hodl through the bears, and eventually the markets will pick up.
If you focus in short term gains, your decision making process might vary, but if you are in for the long run, and you have the means to live out of your portfolio, then you have nothing to worry.
Recessions and bear markets squeeze the living hell out of people who can't afford to maintain diamond hands during the bad times.
Take this knowledge, and do what you must with your portfolio. If you can't endure the bears, sell now, but if you decide to hold through everything, then be ready for a rollercoaster.
I'm not predicting anything, this is just general advice for investing, do what you must with this.
