So I have been looking through my Google photos and the pics bring me many memories!
It's been a long ever since I scribbled words on the keyboard, but finally, here I am.
As I scrolled through my google photos, it is when I realized that Uganda Crypto crypto has fucking grown immensely despite the current market conditions.
Makerere University Massive Celo Uganda Meet-Up Workshop at Grand Global Hotel
In these last 6 months or so I have attended many crypto/blockchain-related meetups and have been lazy to write about those experiences here until now!
In the picture above, I attended a massive event organized by Celo Uganda headed by a close friend Umar. It was an event to orient students of Makerere University(the biggest here in Uganda) about crypto basics and the Celo Blockchain.
I was so happy seeing many youths attending this event, it was an interactive workshop as we(yes me too) helped many people if not all to open up the Valora App and some even won some Celo dollar USD.
I thank Celo Uganda under the leadership of Umar for the great work they are doing in spreading crypto adoption in Uganda.
Bitcoin Pizza Day 2022
This was another big day for the Uganda crypto community as I saw a massive turn of crypto enthusiasts here in Uganda.
I actually attended two events this day and I will both briefly below.
Cryptobootcamm/Skill Haven Meet Up
I actually met and made new friends in the crypto space on this jam-packed day as people learned about the history of money, bitcoin and of course more about Bitcoin Pizza day.
In summary, Pizza was the first item to be purchased with Bitcoin back in the hence this day is always celebrated globally.
This was also a full house event as many youths came around to learn more about this bitcoin and crypto thing.
I thank Skill Haven for organizing this wonderful meetup, hope you organize another next year because it's the only time I get to eat Pizza as I am not a pizza person hahaha.
Skill Haven is an organization that is promoting Crypto Education here in Uganda, you can check out their Twitter
Yellow Card Bitcoin Pizza Day
As I had earlier mentioned above, we had two events of Pizza that day, after eating Pizza at the Skill Haven event, I continued for more Pizza at another event organized by Yellow Card.
Yellow Card is a crypto exchange that helps you buy and sell crypto easily here in Uganda.
I have a Youtube playlist on Yellow Card which you can see here by clicking below.
We had lengthy talks with the Yellow Card team and it was an awesome session.
In was at this event I also got to get closer to my Crypto friends who had always chatted with me online.
I got closer to Edmond the only guy in a suit, also Suda Sam, Joshua Guma and Josh Wiltord and many others.
Ooh I almost forgot to tell you, we ate lots of Pizza here since the number of people was a bit small and also drank lots of beers all paid for by the Yellow Card team.
You can check out my tweet here about Yellow Card Pizza Day.
I really thank the Yellow Card team, especially the Country Manager Abel Namureba who's standing in the middle in this pic below.
Btw Abel was the person who helped me turn my first crypto into Ugandan money back in 2017! Yes, we have been friends since hehe.
The Kampala Blockchain Happy Hour Organized by Celo Uganda
Celo Uganda organises a happy hour every last Friday of the month at Innovation Village from 6:30 pm-8:30 PM.
I have attended most of them as I always connect with new people every other time I go there, thanks Celo for this initiative.
The very first one I attended was also graced by the Uganda Blockchain Association Chairperson Kwame Rugunda
Check out this tweet
Blockchain DevFest Kampala
This was an event for most developers and programmers and also crypto enthusiasts.
I met many developers from young both young and experienced in blockchain and I loved their passion for the space.
It is also at this event I met the World coin, guys! I will not go into details of that now hehe.
Blockchain Adoption In Uganda
There was also another event theme Blockchain In Uganda where the Uganda blockchain players talked of how they have grown and also how to grow adoption collectively in Uganda.
The many presenters included Yellow Card, Celo Uganda, Binusu exchange, Muda Exchange, Skill Haven Africa, Capital Savvy and many other industry players.
There have been really many events and I cannot list all, maybe I will update some other time.
Anyway I am glad that the Uganda blockchain/crypto space is growing immensely even though we are in a bear run!
Next time I will make posts just after the event day hehe.
Love
Jarau Moses
