PERSONAL CHALLENGES Associated with Onboarding On Hive

Hello everyone it's @Joetunex and @Josediccus here again. Today, we continue our crypto series by talking about the challenges of onboarding, especially with people who are friends, colleagues, associates, or even relatives.

In this video @joetunex, specifically talked about onboarding some of his relatives, but feared the exposure that might result from this onboarding process and how it might create a flawed perception that he's wealthy online while it's a different case in real life.

@josediccus pointed out that some of the most valuable qualities of the chain might come with some heavy downsides as well. For example, transparency might be Blockchain's main selling point, but the exposure can lead to underlying human emotions like greed, envy, and misunderstanding.

We went on to highlight that being on Hive requires or changes people to think and react differently and anyone to whom this change doesn't happen, might not experience retention.

This is why we mostly pointed out that Onboarding has more pressing challenges than things like retention. The issue of exposure makes people change their minds.

You're right @josediccus & @joetunex for this elaboration of how difficult it's to onboard people into hive and crypto. Difficulties onboarding boils down to the mindset of getting rich overnight as soon as they join Hive or the thinking of short term projections instead of focussing on long term. I think we all got trapped with this mindset initially when coming to Hive. But with time, i said hey! I must give much time to this business and give it time say 10 years or even more. I really learnt something from this video.

Onboarding to Hive is a challenge we all face, some will grab the opportunity Hive presents from the onset and run with it while some will want to earn thousands from one or two posts, it becomes a tough challenge if these people we onboard are family members or close friends.

I am approaching my 6th year on Hive, so like you mention we have to give it time 5-10 years.

Many thanks for watching. 🙂

Am laughing so hard about that nephew story, uncle Joe not coming clean about Hive. That's the downside of the transparency. You are so right, it is just easier to on board strangers. However with Hive being such a wonderful decentralized blockchain, its only a matter of time before many people catch on to it. That time you won't be able to hide from nosy relatives. The good thing with Hive is that you can have several anonymous accounts where you can put funds.
Anyway, that was a good talk bros, do keep enjoying the long Easter weekend. Happy Easter.

It's easier to onboard strangers as you owe them no special affiliation except to guide them. But people you're close to might just begin to demand too much and expect too much and your relationship with them might sever in real life.

Very well put, the wallet issue with close relatives has bad consequences :}

Hahaha yeah, uncle Joe is acting all broke yet rich, that is what will be thrown at me from every angle lol.
It is just sad about the wallet transparency about family it is most likely to backfire when they see one's funds.
You have a point when it does get to that stage when they discover Hive, then it will be to create an anonymous account but until then I'd rather onboard strangers.

Happy Easter weekend bro, always appreciate listening to our talks.

It'll even be better if it's possible to create an anonymous account and not tie your personality to the account. But I still feel that they'll find out you're the one eventually hahahah.

Trust me when someone wants to hunt you down, they will like they are being paid to be a detective, I have no doubt of them finding out. 😄

They likely want to know everything, and since you'll be following their account, it's inevitable they'll gain unlimited access to you.

This an informative show as usual but it seems like it was cut short or is it a problem with my player?.

Hive's transparency is a good thing in my opinion. One of the reasons why I agreed to join the blogchain is because of its transparency/decentralization. One could feel comfortable, knowing that everything is very visible and you could learn from other people's daily activities. Before now, I didn't know that one could earn passive income by delegating to certain curation trails, but I learnt from being a little inquisitive(nosey).

"Take it out and spend it all" is a mindset that many people came on the blogchain with. Spending more years on the blogchain would give one a change of heart in relation to crypto.

To the matter of onboarding, due to the passion and consistency certain people put into their "hiving", the people around them want to learn about what's keeping them so glued to their devices... especially family members and friends.

Onboarding people that we know shouldn't be done when we're still in our "growth phase". If anyone wants to onboard someone, they should do it when they have reached the limit or goal which they had set for themselves(if ever). By then, handling and guiding a person emotionally attached to you wouldn't be so much of a problem.

Jose wrapped up this episode from his last talk, following that was closing up but due to some background noise, we had to cut off the noise.

From a personal level, I have no problem with the transparency on Hive, and in blockchain in general, it builds trust, and going against it with dubious acts dents one's reputation so am up for the transparency but fear its consequence when exposed to family.

Onboarding close family has been a tough issue I have always wanted to talk about I am glad Jose talked about it and we are now hearing your views. You do have a point as well as to onboard when we have rich our growth phase, perhaps that way I can consider an anonymous account.

Thanks for watching.
Happy Easter.

we had to cut off the noise.

Okey dokey.I thought the problem was from me.

perhaps that way I can consider an anonymous account.

To the part of creating an anonymous account, you should also put into consideration the fact that it is somehow illegal on Hive. That is having two different accounts with different names.

No it's not actually illegal to have two accounts, unless you're probably using the two accounts to try to scam or cheat the system. You have two accounts maybe one for saving and another for content creating. It's a thing on hive, many people have alt accounts.

Nice nice nice! I didn't know this part. But do you have to use the same name?

Depending on how it is used a second anonymous account isn't illegal if it is not used to milk the system.
I recently created a separate account just for my Actifit App alone since I am a fan of the App and also challenging a friend daily we thought its best to create a separate account for it, perhaps that might end up being my anonymous account 😉
But I think I understand your point, if multiple accounts are created for the wrong reason it won't be too long will the person is identified for wrong doing on the chain.

it won't be too long will the person is identified for wrong doing on the chain.

Exactly my point.

Thank you for your response ✨

You are most welcome 🙂
