Hello, everyone it's @Joetunex and @Josediccus here again. In today's session, we talked about AI and the prospects and dangers it potentially poses. We compared the AI situation in most African countries to what we have in the Western countries and continents and talk about the huge contrast that we noticed.

We talked about how sophistication makes the impact of AI inevitable, especially in well-placed countries with the right technology. We then highlight AI and the internet and how it's threatening human interaction while providing the needed technology for job owners to actively reduce the cost of their workforce at the expense of people.

We talked about AI internet tools like chatGPT and also its influx into the web2 and web3 spaces like Hive. After carefully scrutinizing this influx, we came to a Conclusion that humanity might remain at an impasse towards AI and its technology because of the outrageous good it can do and the potential damage it can also cause.

There's been a huge disagreement on hive over the use of AI as a content tool. We feel that this same disagreement will span into real-world scenarios. We also highlighted the ideal perception of the potential AI situation in African countries.

Great discussion! AI permeating our world is definitely inevitable. I also think humanity will most likely never be on the same page in regards to AI so the impasse will be unavoidable. I'm hoping that it wouldn't last for that long and we can come to a general consensus on moving forward with AI.

Thanks for clicking and watching. Just like I pointed out, we'll completely remain at an impasse when it comes to AI and this is because, we can never collectively agree on it's advantages as well as downsides too.

Yes, the other thing is that many people aren't preparing for the rapid change that's occurring so they risk not been able to adapt and been left behind.

AI has been long coming, we've been having hints of it, now that it is here we have to live with it as I don't see a slowdown in AI development, the amount of AI that has been developed following ChatGPT is mind-blowing, it is like the way we have cryptocurrencies of different kinds all over the place. I tend to be concerned more about the negative impacts.

We will see how it evolves with time. Thanks for watching.

Yes, ChatGPT has sped up the development of AI infrastructure and tools. There's indeed no slowing down now. I think we can try adapting to it and be ready for the impact both good and bad.

You're most welcome! It was a great watch :)

Topic that will need to be discussed in depth before implementing into the world, a recent video I watched that may interest you Michio Kaku on Quantum Computing and AI Chat-bots

Life is changing exceptionally fast, well done with discussion.

@tipu curate

AI deserves an in-depth, with a listen to views from experts, thanks for the link Joan I will give it a look.

And for the tip, thanks as well.

Technology can be put to extremely good use, when there is a positive a negative will follow. We need to understand more before being accepting.

There's always that initial opposition to technology before we welcome and adapt to it.
From what I have picked up about AI, chatbots specifically, one needs to stay inclined to be in the know.

Full understanding before allowing into ones life is required with many new technologies opening back door access into you life you may not be aware of, or wish to entertain.

opening back door access into you life you may not be aware of, or wish to entertain.

True, these things ask for access, in most cases, we are unaware of the amount of access we are granting them.

Not really safe anywhere of late, be cautious is about the best!

Perhaps its time we all go back to the village 😃

Thanks for the comment and the curation. We'd be sure to, we'd be sure to check out that video.

Finding people who fully understand, most in the know are hesitant.

As with many things of late, there is a lot of suppression when releasing negative news to what some want out now for financial gain.

It's good to be aware that in 2-3 years there will be convergence, we content creators have to prepare and adapt to the situation, because we are the first to be hit ... the physical work will remain ...

This is a valid point, with AI being here now, it is affecting us the content creators positively and negatively currently, finding ways to utilize it to our benefit puts us ahead of the rest that will only feel the impact of AI later. I like to compare it to crypto, we are ahead of some, so we might as well just adapt to AI and see where it fits in whatever we do.

Many thanks for watching 🙂.

Great Topic guys and it's refreshing to hear your perspective on AI. 🌼
I agree with you on not relying on AI like ChatGPT to generate content ideas as it is trained on existing data and lacks the expression of one's personal experience to connect with our audiences.

We need to assess the situation and find ways to adapt that suit our needs. One example that hit home to us when it comes to adapting new ideas is cryptocurrency vs banks/shares/equity/real estate investment- Some investors see crypto investment as a get-rich-quick scam while those who took time to understand the technology see how they fit in and are benefiting from it. Of course, if we all move to crypto there is a threat to banks and jobs.

One thing we should appreciate about humans is that we have ways to adapt to change even though we are also threatened by it when it is still a new idea to us. Even during the first invasion of calculators - there was fear that if learners are exposed to using them, it will affect their intelligence. But at the senior phase, calculators were compulsory to solve complex problems like trigonometry concepts. We now know that owning a calculator won't help you solve maths problems without understanding. My point for this analogy is concerning one's abilities whether you need to use "AI" as an easy way out meaning generate ideas for you (which are already a pattern of existing data) or to maximise one's potential to create new ideas.

And if we have to consider the job security. This is just a new additional threat to what we have seen in the past. For instance, online banking and the cashless idea threatened bank jobs and cash couriers. The internet, search engines and audiobooks were a threat to authors and physical libraries. Smartphones and access to mobile data eliminated the Internet cafe business. But because of the same threats we can now access any information and create content to earn a living. Imagine having to create content at an internet cafe or library if the odds had favoured those who had internet cafes and library jobs.

The music industry also evolved with people easily accessing music on the internet and peer-peer sharing but the industry has found ways to adapt. DSTV now is threatened by Netflix, apple tv, prime, etc. My biggest worry is Africa being disadvantaged in having to adapt to the shift of skills and application of these tools in a way that can benefit us.

Oops, I got carried away writing this comment. It's an intriguing topic!🙃

True Humbe, we tend to first feel threatened by new technology before being open up to it, if I have to compare crypto to AI, my reaction to both are different as I was keen from the onset with Bitcoin back then and developed curiosity while for AI I feel humans are threatened, I feel human originality will be lost but as you mentioned we begin to open up and adapt, I have been slowing adapting to ChatGPT experimenting with ways it could be of benefit to me.

You touched on some salient points, I can't help but think as much as AI will be of help, could its negative be more than the positive with regards to the impact it will have on humans? That is my worry.

We are looking at the aspects of production, perhaps if we look at the aspect of AI to be used for destruction we might get that disturbing feeling of what we are dealing with. Why is The "Godfather of AI" Geoffrey Hinton so concerned about AI he had to step down at Google so he can freely express himself, has he seen some of the benefits and dangers we haven't seen yet?

I suppose we can let our minds wonder about AI all day long as it is an interesting topic. As for Africa let's hope it taps into it for its benefit though for as far as I have noticed, the larger part of the continent is unaware of what AI is, perhaps they are still trying to grasp the cryptocurrency thing.

Many thanks for watching, nice that you were carried away, great to know your perspective on the subject.

I wish there was a voice record button to respond in that way I would have not procrastinated to respond to this as I have so many things to say😅. You made a valid point Joe that there is a risk of losing originality as the main idea behind AI is to train machines or algorithms to function like humans (WHICH ONES?). But this does not make it a replica of humans meaning that it works best when it is used to maximize skill and productivity but not to substitute it.

And if we relate this to your former job, the tasks you do on-site would still need a balance between the use of AI (automation) and human involvement to install, verify and to understand the principles before doing the job (the need to avoid the VSMR ALARM?). So using AI to create snags from the desk will just turnout to be Lu Fanbo ROLLER coaster as one would still need human assessment to make feasible decision relative to site. lol yeah I know I am a good listener. But for those S-builts you had to document, one definately needs an automated workflow to increase productivity.

I think the fear of the change and the unknown is making us focus more on the negative than the good side of AI. If you get the chance to read the book "Leading in the 21st Century: The Call for a New Type of African Leader"(my current read), you will realise that AI can be an answer to our African problems if our leaders invest in having our continent develop skills that would have most AI tools tailored to our needs. I think intergrating AI with our originality and creativity will make Africa more adaptive to this and give access to things that limited our progress and ambitions in the past.

I think the positive side of AI outweighs the negative as it also enhances creativity and preserve jobs. For instance, I have always admired Gloria's handbags (Link1 & Link2) and from my understanding following her content, she makes those bags to sell to local customers and most pre-order them. In an instance like this if Gloria wishes to start an online store or a website to reach a wider market ideally she will need to get a brand creator to brand it for her and a web developer to create a website for her.

But NOW we have AI tools that are automated to use as plug-and-play without really having to understand the source code. In this context instead of getting the two to help of which some end up wanting a percent share of her profit in exchange for their service. Yes, two guys now have their jobs opportunities at stake but Gloria now CAN ACCESS AI tools to help her maximize her potential and avoid being exploited for her hard work. Also if she wishes, she can also use AI tool to turn her post on how she made those bags to a voice reader and create a video within seconds and monetize it on youtube. In that way her creativity for making bags and her time get monetized three times thanks to AI.

As for privacy the internet era has exposed us to that already having hackers, fraudsters stealing our data through Apps and making users give permission for apps to access our data to gain access to apps or even websites. So AI is just adding another layer which is recognised and there are initiatives in place aiming to have AI regulated. AI is shifting opportunities around and I think we should aim not to be left behind.

Gloria should be part of this so she can send you some Hive for the ideas you've thrown around.
Perhaps we are concerned because AI is a new tech and we get too worried and slow to change, I'd like to see the positives outweigh the negatives that will be nice for humanity.

I will check out the ebook, Leading in the 21st Century sounds like one worth reading.

As for Lu Fanbo, he's been fired and somewhere in China creating snags list form he desk, as long as he remains in China, I stay happy.

Gloria should be part of this so she can send you some Hive for the ideas you've thrown around.

😂 That's another level of exploitation. No hive needed a chance to shop for handbags from her website would be a great reward.

Cool.

😂 Haha is he really fired? Wherever he is if he keeps his mindset he's surely replaceable and can be substituted by AI that one😂

Lol cool, I will let you ladies decide on that...

Apparently, he was fired for under-delivering, he is a clown with no clue about the job.
