PSA: Have you used Ethereum?

in #hive-1679222 years ago

You could have some free crypto available.

If you have not heard about it yet, EVMOS has launched as a new EVM blockchain, with an aim to combine the best of the Cosmos IBC eco-system within an EVM environment. A large scale airdrop is currently underway, with a significant share of it going to various Ethereum users. I won't go in to all the different categories of users that qualify, but suffice to say it is fairly broad.

Check your EVMOS Airdrop.png

Check Your EVMOS Airdrop.

To see if you qualify for the EVMOS airdrop, you can visit EVMOS Mission Control. Once there, connect to the site using your Metamask wallet, and then you will see if you have qualified.

mission control.png

As you can see, this wallet I have connected has already claimed the airdrop I qualified for here. This was earned for some very casual use of Ethereum (not really significant usage). A little Uniswap, a dabble on Balancer years ago, and a few cheapo NFT's on Opensea, and that is pretty much it for my Ethereum usage.

Heavy users would likely qualify for significantly more than that.

As you can see, the drop has four steps to claim each 25% of the total. You can work your way through this process, which is designed to familiarize airdrop participants and potential users with some of the functions available.

  • Vote on a Governance Proposal: There are regularly governance proposals up for voting. Just follow the "Governance" link, and check which votes are open, and make a vote.

  • Stake Your Tokens: Again follow the links and stake some EVMOS. Staking APR is huge currently, but if you have other plans for your drop, then you only need to stake a very small amount (I think I staked 1 EVMOS on this wallet). Unstaking takes 14 days, and you don't earn staking rewards in that time.

  • Execute an IBC Transfer: This will be foreign territory if you have used Ethereum, but have not used any Cosmos eco-system DeFi like Osmosis. To do a transfer to Osmosis, for example, you will have to add a Keplr Wallet to your browser.

  • Use the EVM: Here is where you will have to connect up to one of the dApps built on EVMOS. Diffusion or Cronus are two options that currently are up and running. Made a swap, add to an LP will lead to the last 25% being claimable.

You don't have to do these in order, or all at once.

This is time sensitive.

If you look at the screenshot above (the first image), you may see in the corner a small warning. The amount you can claim from your airdrop starts to reduce from Independence Day (4th July).

If you have not finished claiming your airdrop by July 4, 2022, 02:00:00, your claimable airdrop amount will start to decrease every second. This decay process continues until all unclaimed tokens have been returned to the Evmos Community Pool on September 2, 2022, 02:00:00. Be sure to claim before then!

I couldn't screenshot that message, so I quoted it for you instead.

Don't procrastinate on this, there is still a large amount of EVMOS not yet claimed, is some of it yours?

What to do with your EVMOS.

Once you have claimed your airdrop, you have plenty of options.

  • Stake it. The APR for staking is still massive, over 1000% currently. This is because it is high inflation early on, and there are relatively few tokens staked sharing in that inflation. Check this post from a few days ago to learn more. Staking rewards work on a daily epoch system, so you can simply pop on once a day to claim, sell, or compound your daily rewards. The other thing to keep in mind is that numerous projects are launching on EVMOS, and most will likely airdrop their own token to stakers. Holding staked EVMOS could become the gift that keeps on giving, with a slew of airdrops coming along over time.

  • Sell it. If you are not interested, or need the money, then selling out is not hard. Use the Diffusion or Cronus app linked above to trade for ETH, or ESDC or something. Remember to keep a little for GAS (0.1 EMVOS will cover many TX's). Both those Apps have several bridge options to shift your tokens back to where you want them. The other option would be to send them to Osmosis, and trade them to something else there if you wish.

  • Pool it. The above mentioned DeFi apps are in early phases, and as such have high APR's also. If LPing is your go, then there are options.

  • Send it to me. Of course if you don't want your EVMOS, I'm happy to accept any donations.

No financial advice here, its up to you.

So, if you have used Ethereum, I would highly recommend checking if you qualify for this airdrop. EVMOS is currently trading over $3.40 at the time of this post, and is in high demand from people chasing the big early APR's.

I'd love to hear in the comments if you are getting some EVMOS, and what you are doing with it. Also, if you have found some free money thanks to this post, I do accept tips.

Thanks for reading, hit me up in the comments to let me know your EVMOS experience so far.

Cheers,

JK.

Thanks for the tip :)
I guess I was too late for snapshot or something. I'm not seeing any claimable tokens. Even if I had, it couldn't be anything huge. So I'm cool with it. !LUV

@jk6276, @d-zero(1/1) sent you LUV. wallet | market | tools | discord | community | daily

⚠ The LUV command will soon require a limited number of other "!" commands accompany it. Details here.

I'd never heard of it before, got about 60! Thanks for educating us.

I have got the airdrop and staked it. Didnt knew about the last 25% so now going to swap evmos to earn the final share of airdrop.
Thanks

Wow, I'm not eligible on multiple wallets I've been using for years.

I manage to get some for my metamask but not on my kelpr. most likely the snapshot is earlier. Sad.

Thanks for the post, I'll be sure to check it out. I've not done much with Ethereum recently, so it is good to get reminded of the other things that are happening. I was aware of EVMOS, but had not taken a closer look.

Odd I have 3 Ethereum accounts and have used them over the years. Not one was eligible for airdrop. I got rekt on this token and they haven't provided rectification despite me holding some from my Luna airdrop

Same here! I wonder what the qualifications were.

Just finding this but nothing. I have two active ETH accounts... I am sure there are others like me too. Congratulations :)

Interesting airdrop but I wonder why one of my wallets which I've used (and hodl) Ethereum with doesn't qualify :)

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Participating in this one has definitely been a bit of a high in amongst a lot of ... "lows" @jk627! I can only wonder how long it will last, as I have become a bit jaded, unfortunately, about the uhhh ... "life span" ... of any of these projects.

So ...

Perhaps foolishly (I am a little slow some times ... 😏), I choose not to do what I have with some other airdrops. Which is to sell a portion of them up front, so I have gained at least a little something.

Given all of the anticipation for EVMOS and how well it has been doing so far, I thought I would HODL on to them all ...

I actually got some EVMOS from 5 different addresses - 4 ETH addresses and my main ATOM / OSMO address. What fun it was to have to go through the claiming steps for each one, then pull it all together into one wallet (simply transferring these tokens qualified me for the 4th and final 25% ...).

Oh well ... So far, so good!

As for investing them, I have put two-thirds of it into staking. The rest I moved into Osmosis and LP'd it there, as the APR is currently quite nice. Since none of these APRs are likely to "stick" very long, I guess I'll have to stay on top of it and move them around. 🤷‍♂️

I did take a brief look at the 2 DeFi platforms you list, but wasn't keen to put my funds at risk there, for the moment.
