The reception that we've been getting for ListNerds so far has been....Remarkable!
Like I've mentioned in previous posts, we thought we would have to introduce the blockchain community to the site and have them slowly jump on board. Our feeling was, our target audience (the online entrepreneurs and affiliate marketers) would embrace it on day one....
However about 6 weeks since launch, the opposite is true. The blockchain has embraced it, while the marketers have been slowly coming onboard.
I wanted to lay out our big vision for this platform but to do this, we need to go back in time...
So I wrote this book in 2007...And to this day it's the best selling book in it's niche on Amazon.
Truth me told...The reason why it's the best selling book is because to this day it's the only published book in this niche lol
Why?
My passion back then was in this little known marketing tool called 'traffic exchanges'.
The idea was pretty straight forward. I look at your website, you look at mine. If I wanted to sit around for 10 hours and look at websites, I'd get about 10 hours worth of people looking at mine.
'Free traffic' came at a price though, it was super low quality and not targeted at all. Sure, you could get your hit counters flying (remember those?) but being able to target specific audiences was tough because of 2 reasons:
As popular as they were back then, they weren't adopted by mainstream online marketers, so they were frowned upon.
The majority of the audience was in the 'make money online' niche.
This caused a fundamental flaw in their design, however savvy marketers figured out how to use these tools to build their mailing lists and promote their brands within them.
Still, I always thought....What if?
What if we had a membership that wasn't measured in a few hundred active users, but the tens of thousands?
How could we categorize the websites in rotation, so that people would actually view sites that interested them. Not that same old , same old...
That concept has intrigued me for years because, I love discovering new websites and think there is a massive market for this but it needs to be done right.
@blainjones and I called this new dream of ours 'content discovery networks' rather than the old traffic exchange brand. Our idea was to create a network of sites (or blogs) where members actually WANTED to view more sites rather than feeling like they had to, in order to get something in return.
What has happened....Partly by design but also because of Hive is....ListNerds has become one of these 'content discovery networks'.
Now...Currently the user base is small. One look at the open rates and you can see, we have a lot of growing to do. And we also seem to have 2 categories being formed in the content that is being delivered in ListNerds:
- Make money online
- Check out my Hive blog post
This is actually light years ahead of any other platform that resembles ListNerds in the industry because, none of them have gotten away from that old' traffic exchange model of...I don't really wanna be here, but I have to so you check out my website or offer!
And there is the potential and big vision for ListNerds!
We see a future where this platform will cater to multiple niches and passionate community members.
Wanna see just finance and crypto news? Check off the categories and that's the content you will receive.
Would you like to see posts about pets? No problem, ListNerds will deliver it!
How about for your foodies out there? ListNerds will have a passionate group of creators showcasing their favorite dishes.
And yup, if you wanna learn about some make money online opportunities, you can even check off a box for that.
And why will this work?
Because members are not only incentivized for discovering new blogs posts and websites, they are incentivized for also showcasing theirs as well.
Imagine that....
A community of passionate people, discovering sites that they have a genuine interest in WHILE being rewarded!
And that same community can be rewarded for sharing their favorite sites and blogs to others AND be rewarded as well!
It's funny when I read those last two sentences out a few times....
This was always the vision of what a 'traffic exchange' could become. But rather than 'exchanging' traffic...We are now sharing it!
We hope you share in the vision we have for ListNerds! It's been an amazing 6 weeks so far but we have so much more growth to come :)
