My Preview Of The New ECR System: DEC To The Moon?

The ECR system on splinterlands has changed once more and I'm still in the dark about how everything works. I thought there might be a reset of the whole ECR thing, but I think there was a continuation from the last system, and I'm still biding my time so as not to mess anything up. I'll have to do some research.

Anytime anything changes on splinterlands, the idea would be to wait, and allow some other players to come up with the review, so as not to mess anything up. Although I have no doubt, that I'll be needing to readjust my strategies to maximize my efforts and take advantage of the system no matter what. So I depleted my ECR playing yesterday morning because I was envisaging a reset, however, deep down, I know a reset may not happen and we might just continue, apportioning people ECR based on their last ECR level.

I probably don't think I can say anything yet about the new ECR system until I've played with it

However, I know it's difficult for splinterlands INC to make these decisions, and most of the time, some of these major decisions are often tethered to minimize the bot from farming rewards.

Most of the decisions and change in the system have majorly been because of the bots and it brings a question: why not entirely get rid of the bot system?, I'm thinking that one of the reasons why this isn't doable is because the bot is a huge revenue generation for splinterlands and also it makes the rental market functional and gives it traction.

Putting The Rental Market Into Consideration

Of course, the rental market has to be functional to generate profit for players with enough means and looking to monetize them. Of course, new players also need the rental market, especially since the cost of building a deck can be expensive and overwhelming. But I do think that running the bot system brings more traction to the rental market, hence the reason why we might constantly put band-aid on a golden goose with broken legs.

The team will keep trying to fix the bot system, to obtain a minimal level of performance. The idea is probably to keep the reward at balance: not so underwhelming so as not to reduce the bot patronization and not too much so as not to farm the hell out of the reward pool.

The bot Issues Are Still Niggling

The first decision I've seen to curb the former was when rewards were taken away from the bronze league because bots would rent an average deck to rake all the rewards meant for human players.

The second would be when soulbound cards were introduced to prevent the constant dumping of reward cards in the market by the bots, the third would probably be this; changing the entire ECR system for players to play 25 to 50 games a day, with the option to extend this by purchasing more DEC in the market. This isn't all gloom though. Firstly, I think another use case for DEC just entered the fray (some days ago SPS got a use case with VRUZ) bot farming will further reduce as well, another win.

The Pay-To-Play Narrative

However what about the deepening concern that that game is transcending from play-to-earn to becoming pay-to-compete? (Just balancing the argument) I know these are probably tough decisions and I'm not criticizing at all because I haven't even played the new system.

I felt 25 games a day would be limiting, as players would probably prefer finding unique ways to manage their ECR. of course the incentive is that the reward will no longer dwindle in value as the ECR goes down just like the last system, but even as a that, it feels limiting on the surface, but this might be different when I test it out on the battlefield.

Doing Some Brainstorming

But from the ECR picture, I probably do not know if I need to wait till the whole 50 bar loads, or play from that level which it is and not worry about the recovery since it'll fill up with time, or I probably need two days off to allow it to fill up.

I know I'm going to ask questions and get clarifications on how it works, but then, I like to brainstorm or what the possible solution would be without getting to ask.

This leads me to ask the ultimate question, are we going to keep making adjustments to suit the bot system, or are we going to scrutinize the system itself and change its core anatomy rather than allowing it to impact and affect the whole system in general?

I don't know

I feel like the way the bot system works are flawed and that's why constant decisions will keep being made to minimize its rampage. We cannot get rid of it, it serves some inevitable functions and I'm not saying it's easy to reevaluate it, all I'm saying is that checking it could prevent some decisions in the future. However, the bots are wise.

They take time to adjust to whatever limitations, and they're back to running to show and this is why the alterations should be done to the system and not the other aspects of the game. I know that in the future, this will actually happen, and I'll refer back to this post to say I predicted so.

Relishing The Opportunity

Nevertheless, I'm relishing every opportunity that'll come with the new ECR system, of course, everyone will be competing to win in the 25-game window, hence, more players will be intentional about winning, making the players with more means and options to come out on top. This means people will have to scrutinize their selection before they hit play, more intentional competition means playing against the best. No more winning by luck and I must say, this would be intense.

As I said, these predictions are all on paper as more people are likely to share their thoughts on what they think. It's the right time to own some sizeable amount of DEC because the players with skin would pay to compete for more, but overall, you can just own some DEC while waiting to sell. At the end of the day, this new ECR system might just be a blessing in disguise.

I thought the issue of bot has been suspended long ago and don't know any bot which exist by now. I would say is someone business and getting rid of them would be something like ceasing their work.

Actually I don't know the implications of bot existence on the Blockchain unless I make research on them. The only consequence I've learnt is making content creators to become lazy to produce quality contents. Those who use bot to buy upvotes sometimes can share less valuable contents.

The bots on splinterlands are still running as the revenue and importance to the game cannot be overstressed, however, I think this will always come with a downside, decisions regarding how to curtail the boy's excesses will always be an issue on splinterlands.

It's not bots on hive, it's bot on splinterlands

"It's not bots on hive, it's bot on splinterlands"

Thanks for the clarification Buddy! I believe you'll find amicable solution to curb this issue. My pleasure for your quick response Bro!

The bid bots no longer run on hive. Plus it's the splinterlands' inc makes the decisions.

The system isn't the best but I think a lot of the bots are gone by now. They can't exactly get much in terms of short-term rewards and I think the new system is trying to burn more DEC. Before going below 50% ECR was bad for rewards but it was true that you could get away with just 25 matches. However, I found that doing around 25 matches per day was enough for me so there isn't too big of a change. At least I don't need to worry about the ECR at all now because it's full rewards for each fight you win.

Yeah, the full reward for each fight you win is really amazing, as for the bots, this feels like the final sucker punch to the gut. The system isn't totally the best, but I think we'll begin to take positives as it were.
