It's the end of the splinterlands'season and once again my stats have gotten better than the last season. I finished with 38 chests previously, but this season I finished with 42 chests. 4 of the chests earned 8 hours to the end of the season.
Once again I finished in gold 2 modern, just like last season, with collection Power as the only reason why I didn't advance to gold one. It's been another season where people pump money into their deck to improve their tactics, strategy, and lineup.
This is why there's to decline in the difficulties in the game. The fact that the game is getting harder only proves one thing: players are getting more skin in the game.
This is a positive sign.
The fact that the competition is getting stiffer is a sign of a growing economy and the downside is the chances for one to do poorly every season increases.
Because people strengthen their deck by going shopping and also getting soulbound cards to improve their strategies. I cannot ramble enough on how the soulbound cards have really helped a lot of people to build a competitive deck.
Even if these rewards are soulbound, they're used in returns to earn rewards with $$$ value, i.e. SPS, chaos legion packs, and more soulbound rewards acting as a residual income to be used in earning more of the $$$ assets I mentioned above.
So, it's been a thrilling season and it's also the first time I've earned 43 chests in a season
The irony here is that playing in the gold league was easier than playing in the silver league. I spent only 3 days playing in the gold league and I earned about 14 chests.
This was where my win rate could have been reduced because of the level of cards I have. But surprisingly I took on teams with level 5 to 6 summoners and beat them convincingly and this proves only one theory. I thrive well when I play higher up in the leagues.
The reason is that the number of high-profile games increases.
I thrive better when I have enough mana to express myself, so I got a lot of this in the gold league, and because of that, my win rate skyrocketed, 3 days to the end of the season.
Whenever the season ends, I pay attention to the number of soulbound rewards I could get. Having a legendary boosts my collection Power chances. This is because I badly want to grow my collection Power.
After all, this is the only way I get to qualify for play in the most lucrative leagues. This season has been my most rewarding in terms of that. Ironically the reward is only worth $2.33 when you check the value, and this was mostly because I got a chaos legion and about 12 SPS or so.
The other rewards were the potions and the only reason why it's got a dollar value is not because you can sell them, but because you need to buy them to actually open up your chaos legion packs.
I think it's time to remove the potion rewards
........because they serve no purpose to the large part of the player's population. I'm sure people will be happy to buy it to open their packs if they have something different in rewards other than positions.
Sometimes the efforts spent to earn them are more valuable than the money one could have used to buy them. Now back to why the reward is worth $2.33 and it's my most rewarding season ever.
I got a level 3 GFL EVA THE UNDAUNTED with a collection Power of 25k.
I got my first ever level-5 gold card and I got other varieties of gold cards. A lot of my Soulbound Cards are now in level 4 aiming for level 5.
A twist in the calculation of subjective value
Realistically, this wouldn't be a reality without the inception of soulbound rewards and the change in the ECR system. Originally my investment could only see me play in gold 3 modern, maximum.
But fast-forward to today, I can comfortably play in gold one, with the GFL adding an incredible 25k collection Power to my deck.
In reality, this card if it had $$$ value would be worth like $350 if not even more, but the in-game value for now is mind-blowing and if the rewards were not soulbound, there's no way I'm getting a card as this, except I play in the diamond or champion's league.
I'm elated to have this output, but would seriously like to back to earning Chaos packs which I'm hoarding to sell when the bull run comes through.
