”Blackbirds tend to like shiny things.” ~ The Bloody Raven
Last Thursday morning after my shift and a pile of dishes I settled down to the kitchen table to finish my baby Sister’s Tax Return. Baby Sis wasn’t bright but often preoccupied by her Obsessive-Compulsive behavior, hence my getting her tax receipts late. Sitting at the corner of the table was Witty’s package. I had to make a decision, I decided “she can wait another day.”
Scoring the tape, I opened it up, removed the paper padding, leaned over to get a whiff of genuine Tennessee air before it wafted away…
Regretfully, it didn’t smell much different than British Columbia air. Perhaps it was due to my deadened olfactory nerve impulses from a career of changing bed pans and incontinent briefs. I figured that it may be the reason for shipping a big roomy box. 😉
With that said, my eye spy something shiny on the left.
First, The Shiny!
It seemed barely on the heals of thanking @enginewitty’s last generous gift of a Korean 2oz Silver Doggaebi Shield and tasty homemade jam, he alluded to another shiny gift.
The first Rwandan Nautical Series coin featuring the La Santa Maria de la Immaculada Concepcion, the Santa Maria.
This was premised on an anticipated March meetup with some staunch members of the #silvergoldstackers community in Las Vegas. And the big draw was the Las Vegas Numismatic society show. Meaning, wall-to-wall gold and silver shiny!
As usual, I am tied down with life stuff managing my Mom’s affairs and caring for my Roommate who is currently being treated with chemotherapy. At this point, we would need a miraculous healing to even entertain the ideal of our Hive Alliance Block Party II this September 10th.
The next shiny(s)
With the meetup in Las Vegas, we can’t help mentioning the person that led the charge into Steem Hive back in 2017 as a bunch of YouTube Stackers. Only few of us are left from the original group.
Well, the Meetup posts didn’t show any pictures of Mike, but we knew that there was some business between some members of the group and @pit-bullion.
I still follow @pit-bullion on IG staying updated to his creations, rumor has that he has subcontracted some of his products to a Chinese manufacturer. I should test these rounds on my CCT Silver slide.
And Shiny Chokin Art! 😮
I am not totally unfamiliar with this product; in fact, I have a lovely Dragon plate made by the same “Dynasty Gallery” brand of 6 inch collector plate with a matching dragon vase as a gift from Nyssacat373. I was saving that for a killer Dragon coin post.
As for Witty’s choice… it matches my coin with the same majestic view of this famous Tea Clipper!
Chokin art is an ancient Japanese technique of engraving and gilding using gold and silver originally for embellishing the personal weapons of Samurai warriors.
With that in mind, I can understand how Witty made this delightful choice.
The bottom of the plate has the same message, “Not for food use, May poison food.” So, I better not serve treats to my guests with this plate. Maybe serve the pesky real estate salesman that’s been trying to get me to sell my home.
Since my cat suddenly passed away a month ago, I need not worry anymore about fragiles knocked over. I know I have a left-over plate stand somewhere, it’s time to display this new piece on the mantle.
Thank you again @enginewitty for these most seaworthy gifts! 💋
