To long form, or to short form?

The obvious answer is both. If you've been on LeoFinance for a while, you know there has been a plan to launch micro-blogging for a very long time. Well, fast forward to now... and the user interface looks completely different. Gone are the days of the old clunky UI that shows you a ton of articles you care nothing about as soon as you land on the site.

The LeoFinance user interface used to be the sort of Frankenstein mess that had all kinds of shit hidden everywhere. Now, you land on the home page and immediately know what to do. It looks almost identical to Twitter. You log in or sign up and in a few seconds you can start Threading (like Tweeting) about whatever you want. I'm sure there's some OG Hive users that are apprehensive about this shift in focus to micro-blogging.

In order to progress with anything, we have to be willing to accept change. We have to be ready to pivot to a different thing that we aren't comfortable with. The nature of web3 is that it changes rapidly, and if you're not ready for this... It can hit you like a brick. When the old user interface was swiftly tossed into the fire, people lost their minds. It was mass hysteria, the sirens were going off, and it was complete insanity. Not really lol.

As you can see in the image below, I had some banger articles that were of ten in the trending section. Unfortunately, we have to move forward.

Evolution

I've been around a while. Six years, in fact, and I've always had concerns about how this platform would grow. When I say "this platform", I mean Hive's bogging interfaces. Attracting massive amount of users with just long-form content will literally never work. Especially when creating an account is a pain in the ass, not everyone likes long-form, and there was no easy onboarding experience.

LeoFinance was the exception with easy onboarding with its Twitter log in option, which did help. The problem was that users would create and account, log in, and get lost. Then never come back. Without a literal guide, it was hard to get started and felt hopeless. Of course you have us OG's that made it through, good or bad. I've always enjoyed the LeoFinance fornt-end for Hive, but it definitely had its caveats. Mainly the fact you could only create finance related content.

When I learned that there was going to be a micro-blogging feature called Threads, I was immediately sold. I knew this was going to be that killer feature that takes us to the masses. Launched in August of 2022 as a feature that was hidden in the menu, and almost impossible to use... I was one of the first couple people with access and was hooked. I saw this becoming the main selling point of the LeoFinance platform. Someone that's on twitter can sign in and start creating micro-blog content in just a few seconds.

Prior to this, my activity on Twitter was next to zero, aside from promoting Hive articles. I hated the concept, despite seeing that is where everything is headed. You've got short-form videos on TikTok, Instagram, Youtube, and even 3speak. It only makes sense to have short form text content like Twitter if we really want to grow. If we build it, they will come.

The launch of the Alpha version of the new UI was a turning point for me. I realized that this is what I've been waiting for all these years. A clear, easy to understand interface, with both short and long form content. My Hive usage habits had already started to evolve as I was alpha testing, but this really flipped the switch. It was go time.

Growth

Now that I was turned into a Threads-focused user, I started creating tons of threads every day. This is my daily usage habits now. I used to wake up every single day thinking about what kind of article I wanted to write. That was it. Now I wake up, say GM to my frens on Threads, and share all kinds of random shit throughout the day. Micro-earning along the way from upvotes and having awesome conversations with people all over the world.

Of course, I still create long-form content and even videos... But that is not my focus. My focus is being a role model for other users by way of staying active every day. Regardless if I'm busy or at work, I make sure I send out some Threads to get some conversations going. When I do create long-form content, it barely gets any interaction. I've never gotten a massive amount of comments on my content, and that has always annoyed me. I don't care about tons of votes, I just want to interact.

I'm extremely excited for what the future holds for LeoFinance. I'm happy to be a part of a sort of revolution on Hive. I'm happy to help push things forward in whatever way I can. We have subscriptions, NFTs, and a ton of other really cool shit on the way. Hell, we're even going to be getting an APR of LEO Power from advertising revenue! Name another platform that is doing that for their users that are helping build up the platform.

We're well on our way to 5000+ monthly active users, and I can't wait to see the progress by the end of the year. If you're not active, get active. Get out there, send some Threads, and connect with people. Make someone smile today.
